The Roared Lord Capulet's Diary
The maids, butlers and chefs all hurried about in the Montague household, preparing for what would most certainly be the biggest event of the year. It’s been crazy all day, for that has been all the time we were given to make the preparations for the arrival of the Capulets. Yes, yes the Capulets are going to have dinner with the Montagues. I couldn’t believe it myself when we were told of the news. Now, 6 o’clock has struck and it’s high time that the head of the Montague’s household are to arrive.
Lord and Lady Capulet came out of their chambers wearing some of their best linens. As they dismissed us to the kitchen to prepare the food, I could hear the strict talk between Lord Montague and Lord Capulet. It was the awkward talk of weather, and market trade. Sadly, I didn’t see their faces as we walked into the kitchen.
“Oh my, did you see Lady Capulet’s dress? Atrocious! And Lord Capulet’s attire? Distasteful.” Said a fellow maid once we were behind closed doors. The

I had only hoped it was a just a rumor.” Lady Capulet murmured to herself.
“I can not have this! I will not stand for it!” Roared Lord Capulet.
“Well it’s not like I’m all for it either. For starters, your daughter is already promised. How dare of her to be sly with my son. I would expect more of my child.” Lord Montague stated.
The maids, and butlers looked on with uneasiness at the brewing argument. Never before had they seen their master act so rashly. However they had yet to be excused back to the kitchen therefore they had to endure the awkwardness on the sidelines. A maid looked over to me and we both knew we had been forgotten...
“Well I say! Shouldn’t your son be married yet! At his age he shouldn’t be off living on his own taking up his title. I bet your son wouldn’t be even be able to provide for a wife!” Yelled Lord Capulet standing up from his seat, glaring down on the head of the Montagues.
“Calm now my husband.” Said Lady Capulet trying to please her

The audience become increasingly aware of the rivalry. Luhrmann suggests that the Montagues, though proud to maintain the feud, fear the Capulets. This is shown through the conflicting mannerisms of the two families. A Capulet jokingly pronounces, "Boo". This results in a negative reaction that embarrasses the Montagues. The reaction makes evident the influential power the Capulets have and how they are perhaps the more aggressive family. In return for their humiliation, a Montague uses a juvenile hand gesture to insult the Capulets. This gesture reaffirms the irresponsible nature of the Montagues. The Capulets aggressively act in response to the insult by shouting at a high volume, expressing the violent side to the…

Lord Capulet: the very wealthy patriarch of the Capulet family, he is the character who is as rightfully dominant and says the final word; he is the man of the house, stronger than his wife and Juliet. What the alpha male of the house said was certain and not arguable; any argument against his word would suffer drastic consequence, as we later discover in Juliet’s revolt and rebellion to marrying Paris. In Act One, Scene 2, Capulet and Paris are discussing whether Juliet can be married; Lord Capulet is uncertain and persuasive in allowing his daughter to cherish her childhood before getting married too young. Furthermore, Capulet says: ‘My child is yet a stranger in the world’. From the moment I read it, the word that catches my attention is ‘stranger’. This suggests that she hasn’t experienced much in her life. In addition, Capulet says: ‘And too soon marred are those so early made’. The word ‘marred’ means…

Lord Capulet reaction to Juliet’s refusal to marry Paris pushes her to such an extent that she must run away with Friar Lawrence’s plan. Had they been more concerned, Lord Capulet was so intent on saving his reputation; he did not realize all the pain he was putting his child through. He also speeds up the day off marriage with Paris, without Juliet’s consent. Lord Capulet from what we know has a temper, and when he hears that Juliet does not want to marry Paris this angers him extremely. “What’s this? What’s this? Subtle hairsplitting! What’s this? Proud, and Thank you and no, thanks- and even not proud. You cheeky girl, you, I’ll have none of your thanks, thank you, none of your, proud! Just get your fine self-ready for next Thursday, to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or I’ll drag you there on a sled! Pah! You sick looking object! Get away with you, you minx! You coward!” (Act 3 Scene 5 pg.183) Being blinded by anger, he goes to the extremes not thinking how this might affect how his “loyal” daughter might react, and says he will disown her. “Be hanged with you, you hussy, you disobedient wretch! I’ll tell you what: get to church on Thursday, or never look at me in the face again. Don’t say anything. Don’t reply! My fingers are itching! Wife, we thought we were very lucky that God gave us this only child-but now I realize we’ve been cursed in having her!” (Act 3 Scene 5…

Shakespeare gives the audience a look inside the family dynamic of Capulet. In fact, it can be seen as the direct cause of Juliet’s untimely death. With a family who’s primary focus is wealth and publicity, Juliet never experiences a healthy relationship with her parents. As was custom for wealthy families, Juliet is given a Nurse to take care of her. The Nurse acts as Juliet’s mother figure, however, their relationship cannot fully substitute the biological connection between Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, and Juliet.…

Sampson and Gregory, two servants of the house of Capulet, stroll through the streets of Verona. With bawdy banter, Sampson vents his hatred of the house of Montague. The two exchange punning remarks about physically conquering Montague men and sexually conquering Montague women. Gregory sees two Montague servants approaching, and discusses with Sampson the best way to provoke them into a fight without breaking the law. Sampson bites his thumb at the Montagues—a highly insulting gesture. A verbal confrontation quickly escalates into a fight. Benvolio, a kinsman to Montague, enters and draws his sword in an attempt to stop the confrontation. Tybalt, a kinsman to Capulet, sees Benvolio’s drawn sword and draws his own. Benvolio explains that he is merely trying to keep the peace, but Tybalt professes a hatred for peace as strong as his hatred for Montagues, and attacks. The brawl spreads. A group of…
