recasts the way we think about human frailty.” (David Dobbs Pg. 4).This quote says how the orchid hypothesis changes the way they might act due to their genes. Another theory alike is the nurture theory which is the other theory besides nature.
This is the theory that the surroundings of someone affect the way they think or act. An example could be the 16-year-old who caused the death of four innocent people but basically said it’s not his fault since he had wealth which made him able to buy alcohol and such. The teen actually considered himself a victim of affluence. In the text “Money Changes The Way We Think and Behave” the author talks about how people who grow up with more money tend to have less empathy. The text states, “… having more resources can cause bad behavior in its own. University of Berkeley research found that even fake money could make people behave with less regard for others.” (Carolyn Gregoire Pg. 6). This quote illustrates how people with more money act different from those of lower
income. Although both nature and nurture are alike they are different in many ways. One of their various differences is their definitions as one is based off hormones and/or genes while the other is the surroundings of the person. Moreover, if someone was born and is already active like running and fighting at a young age that could be because of the nature theory meaning it’s in the genes or in other words it runs in the family. An example of nurture could be a kid who grows up watching events go on around him that he later on ends up doing, he wasn’t born and already did it but he ending up doing it due to his surroundings. For some, what makes them different as person due to the theory is provocative. Nature theory people can be known as dandelions and orchid people while nurture people don’t have another name but if they did it would be different. These two theories are extremely interesting to hop onto if you yourself study these and look into them deeply. Even reading articles about this may shock you since the evidence is not what you’d expect. All in all this is just a bit of information on the theories to get you interested in the topic and a couple of differences.
