The Second Generation Emerged In The 1900's Summary
After reading chapter seven I learned that the second generation of Americanized children emerged in the 1900’s. The second generation had an impact in the daily life in Asian American Communities. Lee points out one factor on how the new generation changed the life’s in Asian communities in the following way “The children here have no respect for old people” (180). Basically children do not have any manners or showed respect to their elders. I think children in the U.S have more liberty because they think been certain age like eighteen they consider them self’s an adult and think they could do whatever they want.
Another conflict the new generation had to face is marriage. Parents were forcing their daughters to get married at an early age.
