The Seven-Step Army Problem Solving Army Problems
I am going to be using the seven-step Army problem solving process to solve the issue of not having enough money for college and expenses. Many college students, as well as myself, do not have the money to buy things like gas, books, and food while attending college. Most of them just try to survive through each semester with the money they have. In this essay, I will examine the issue and try to find a solution that will fix this problem. As mentioned earlier there are 7 steps to the Army problem solving process. These steps are as follows: Identify the problem, gather information, develop criteria, generate possible solutions, analyze possible solutions, compare possible solutions, and make and implement the decision. When generating solutions, you are essentially brainstorming so any solution is considered. I came up with 3 possible solutions: Get a part-time job, Rob a bank, and borrow more money. Step 5 is to analyze possible solutions. If we got a part-time job we would have enough money to have a nightlife and afford books while attending college, but it could impact our G.P.A by taking away study time from us. If we rob a bank we would have more than enough money to make it through college and start our lives, but we would most likely get caught which would result in jail time and getting kicked out of college. If we borrow more money we would have enough money to make it through college, but we would end up paying it off for most our lives. The sixth step is to compare possible solutions. When looking at the 3 possible solutions, we can essentially throw out one since it is illegal which would be robbing a bank. That would leave us with two solutions to compare. The borrowing money would solve the issue, but would lead to us paying back more money than what we borrowed. The part-time job solution would solve the issue, but it could impact our G.P.A. If we chose to get a part-time job we would have to

Neal-Richardson (2000) argued that college students should be responsible for paying their own tuition versus depending on their parents for financial support. Neal-Richardson believed that relying on parents to pay tuition creates laziness in students and a feeling of obligation in parents. The first point that Neal-Richardson raised is the sense of entitlement that students feel about having their parents pay for college. She noted the resentment that she felt toward students at their shock in discovering that she was paying her own way through college without her parents’ assistance. The second point that Neal-Richardson raised is that if she paid her own way through college, so should others. She described working full time, making $4.75 an hour to pay her way through school and successfully earning all A’s. The third point that Neal-Richardson raised is that not being responsible for tuition makes one take their education for granted. One of Neal-Richardson’s classmates expressed that she was too busy to go to school and work simultaneously. As a result, because her classmate lacked multitasking skills, she only earned B’s and C’s.…
