The British began the siege on April 2nd, 1780. They quickly met the guns and cannons of the people in Charleston. Ten days later, the British commanders offered for Henry Clinton to surrender, but he refused. Then they shot each other with their artillery. The British continued on, and they eventually got to the city. They started to burn down the houses of the city. One day later, Clinton officially surrendered.
