One thing that was different in the movie than it was in the book was the ages of Jonas, his friends, and Lily. For example, Jonas was turning eighteen at the aging ceremony instead of the age of twelve. I believe that this change was made because in my opinion, it just simply makes more sense. Being eighteen and given a job makes more sense than being twelve because you are older and you become an adult in our society.
