The Spitfire Grill Analysis
Over parents weekend I went to see The Spitfire Grill with my mom. I had high hopes for it, especially because my mom had watched the movie version and loved it. I was extremely let down. Not only did I feel that the acting fell short, I really didn’t like the play itself. I felt that it glossed over huge issues without a thought, despite trying to be very thoughtful towards big issues. I have to say that this really turned me off. I also felt like the direction could have been stronger. The staging was lacking, and non of the actors seemed to commit to any of their actions. Overall, I was just extremely disappointed with the show. I will start off with the things I did like, which unfortunately isn’t much. I thought that the set was beautifully done. The set designer did a great job at creating the diner, while accommodating the need for the outside, as well as an upstairs bedroom. I thought that the set was interesting and it definitely helped to keep my waning interest. The color scheme used for the set was also a good choice, it felt like a diner. It is unfortunate, however that I had the time to notice the color scheme of the set. I think if I had been more invested in the show I wouldn’t have had time to look at the set quite as in depth as I did. It is always the mark of a bad play, when the first thing you think when you get up is “wow …show more content…
It was totally passable, and even enjoyable in some moments. Some of the actors were better then other, especially the woman who played the best friend. She had a lovely voice that to me carried the show. Everyone else was fine, with most being pretty good, and the main actress being only ok. She had some good songs, however, there were times that she was extremely pitchy. Honestly, that is all I can think of that I enjoyed at all, the rest of the show I found pretty unbearable. It was boring, poorly written, directed, and several times down right

    Avenue Q Play Analysis

I like the set design of the play it looks realistic it seems like you are living in moment. For example, the wall was made of wood but the color contrast gave a realist impression. Also, the set design is important because it gives idea to audience where the setting of the play is located. Although the building in this play were relatively new, the original Broadway play set design was very worn out. In my opinion, if the play was old then the set design should look like the original Broadway play because on Avenue Q middle and lower class family leave. The apartment look like they leave on Avenue A. In additional, the costume is also important so the audience can figure out who they are. I think costume also show the personality of a character like upper, middle, and lower class and the costume designer of this play did great work. Especially, when two or three character wearing black cloths and the puppets were in red, blue, and green this shows the color…

Our team has been instructed to help advise on a business case involving a restaurant, The Mongolian Grill. It’s owner, John Butkus, is contemplating renovations, in hopes of adding capacity and increasing revenue. There are several scenarios that are available to him. One option is to add an extra food bar. The second option is to move the location of the cooking area. He can also implement both options, if he so chooses. Our team has done the appropriate financial calculations, as well as qualitative considerations.…

Whoever worked the lights and sound needed a little work. They cut lights on early that were not supposed to be cut on. In my opinion, during the Emerald City dance sequence, I feel like there should have been color changes on the lights. When the actors named each of the colors, such as green, red, and gold, the lights should have changed. That would have added more dimension to the scene and made it better. Overall, the lighting and sounds of the show were very nice. We just needed better people working them.…

The set was well made and fit the time period quite nicely, but I could not help but feel it could have used a few more props to give the audience a better sense of immersion. It was often hard to tell where the scene was, or if the characters had changed scenes or not. Using more props would also give more distinction between events and places, making the overall scenes more memorable. One of the strongest points in the play was the costumes. They all were extraordinarily well made, and looked authentic. Some of the notable mentions are Prince Pedro’s uniform, the watchmen’s uniforms, and all the costumes in the ball scene. The costumes helped the audience remember which characters are which, and make the play more memorable.…

The literature was very well written and you were able to feel the connection between you and the characters. For example when Will and his father were traveling down the stairwell and came to the levels where the main point of the fire was, you could almost feel the heat like you were right beside them. This helped me imagine what these people in this disaster were going through, it really put what happened in perspective for me. Having these outstanding details helped me understand the severity of this horrible event. There were many parts in the story where you could feel the characters pain or struggle, like when Will tripped over a piece of cement when the tower had collapsed, I could feel the pain that he was going through when he thought he lost his father for ever. I feel like this book could improve if there was a little bit more advanced vocabulary, especially during the very intense moments. I would have also liked to see more of an ending, like what happened when they went to pick up Will's friend from the fire station or what happened when he got home to his mom. Having something at the end like that would have made to story more interesting at the end, not just them getting to safety and then the story ending. Overall this book was very intriguing and well written, and I would definitely read this book…

Northrop Frye in "The Singing School" illustrates that all literature has the same format where it symbolizes characters struggling with the loss, and regaining of identity. Northrop Frye's format of literature is exemplified in "The Spitfire Grill" as the characters in this movie lose and regain their identity. This movie was about Percy who was discharged from prison, and chose Gilead as a place to start a new beginning to her life. In the town of Gilead, several of those characters that came across regaining of identity are Percy Tallbot, Aaron Sperling and Eli Ferguson.…

I really enjoyed how minimalist the set was for this show because while the overall setting of the South was important, the interaction of the characters was made the focal point of the show. It was a good choice because it reinforced the theme of getting to know someone else’s side of the story that the play showcased. It also help aid the fact that the play was told in a flashback, and that all the events had already occurred. It was a good style choice for this…

I did enjoy the production by relating to the characters and to the work they do for a living. I did not like how there was multiple stories and not just one story that enfolds into a happy ending. Some of the areas that I assisted from Day 1 to strike were: the helping out back stage with the cast, helping set the props for the scenes and taking part of the musical as a…

I had not seen the show in a while so I did not know what to expect but as I soon found out, I would not be let down. It also helped that I knew and have many friends who were all part…

The two actors had a decent chemistry, meaning they worked well off of each other but I would have liked to see a better young Kayleen. I got the feeling in the middle of the first scene that if the audience was not told what age they were supposed to be portraying, Doug would have still seemed like an eight year old but I am not quite sure I could say the same for Kayleen because she still gave the vibe of someone somewhat older. Although her eight year old impression did not appeal to me, she made up for it with all the rest. As thirteen year olds in the scene where they throw up in the same trash can, they start working very well together and the comedy of this scene helped engage the audience a bit more. It was about at this point where you see the two begin to really get close.…
