According to the article “A Practical Guide to Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces,” many stories fit into a basic structure that follows a particular pattern. For example, in the popular series, Harry Potter, Harry believes he is just a regular boy living in his ordinary world in the beginning of this story. When Harry is first told he is a wizard he refuses to believe it. Then, he is taken to a magical school where his adventure begins and he starts to discover the world of wizardry (CITE). Already this story follows the basic outline of the hero’s journey. Later in this analysis the entire diagram of the hero’s journey will be revealed explaining more of how Harry Potter and many other stories follow this outline perfectly.…
Thirdly, purpose can be used to help the reader determine the tone of text because it demonstrates how a speaker conveyed this context and what the speaker was trying to spark in the audience. Quote by Tom Clancy says, “The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.” Roughly translates that the difference between reality and fiction would be that fiction has to be understandable. Reality doesn’t necessarily need an explanation, it is what it is. Most people are more likely to question fiction rather than questioning reality due to the fear of being wrong. Fear is a strong emotion that thrives in every human being in the world. Fear can either motivate or it intimidate a person, it all depends on who the person is. That…
Both texts have different approaches to achieving their purpose and that is why their structures are very dissimilar. For instance text A is an advertisement in the paper which means that there are no illustration to support the advertisement, however the layout of the advertisement is like a poem which adds a more friendly approach to the reader as it makes it softer and less aggressive to the reader. Whereas text B is advertised in a magazine meaning that there is more room and that the advertisement needs to stick out and by using the image it aids the advertisement to relate to the women reading the magazine as the image is of a working woman during the war.…

Many authors have creative writing techniques which appeal to readers and allows the readers to focus their attention on the work of literature. In the stories “Our Secret” by Susan Griffin and “The Survivor’s Return: Reflections on Memory and Place” by Karl A. Plank both authors use innovative styles by using different histories to explain their own. The different techniques show a more diverse way of writing; allowing for the text to be comprehensive which can help maintain readers attention, while making the reader view things from a different aspect. In the article “Analyze, Don’t Summarize” by Michael Burbe many writing tactics were used to get the authors point across. The way the authors technique appeals to the readers recalls a memory from years before. In high school I met a teacher who's teaching style was not the same as others which became a huge challenge. The teacher connects to the authors of the stories because his style of teaching makes the student look at his class from another viewpoint which made the subject interesting. Writing and teaching technique’s allow the author or the teacher to use details from other things to explain their thoughts.…

The paragraph most effective was the first paragraph, it talks speaks of wills. I found it the most effective because it is a subject that should concern everyone. I found it interesting because it states that everyone needs a will and that is true. Not everyone has a will and the writer speaks of the tragedies that happened to him because of his father not possessing a will. Sentence variety means using different styles of sentences, either they are long or short, or use different rhythms. The writer of the sentence was a bit boring and he did not have a good rhythm, after I was done reading the short paragraph, I became annoyed. The author of the paragraph did not have a good rhythm because he became a little repetitive at the end of the paragraph. Throughout the middle of the paragraph the author states that his father did not have a will, at the end, the author talks about not being able to start college soon enough and once again, he mentions his father did not have a will.…
Composition is in a picture as much as a essay. Dorothea Lange incorporate composition .by subtly showing the creases of the tent pointing to the mother. Also the arm of the mother is leading up to her. Which also seems to show that the mother is a very important person. We can support this by looking at the two children that are leaning on her shoulder and the baby angle towards her to. Since this picture was that in the era when the Great Depression happened. This strongly exemplifies the one of the characteristic of the picture is unity.…
