The Taliban Insurgency

Bartfield points out the Taliban insurgency is in connection with Pakistan, which is not necessarily false. Karzai’s weak attempt to hold a stable government was advantageous for the Taliban. Bartfield fails to discuss the relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan especially when the Taliban insurgency was at its high especially in the south of the country. There is tremendous amount of discussion within the Afghan community that Karzai supported the Taliban. There is even discussion that went around that Karzai was a full Taliban supporter and advocate before he came into office during the 1990s.
