The Teacher
Teacher, as the main facilitator of learning is like a clay pot masters that mold and design clay pots. As the master, he has the capacity to create his masterpiece just from a lump of clay due to his craftsmanship, patience, and his skills. Hence, I guess, it is just and right to ALSO give credit to the result of his hardwork and labor.

I highlighted the word ALSO since, there are several factors in learning which I guess we will tackle in the next few days and weeks. Learning does not only take place in the school and with student's teachers. Learning can also be acquired in other forms and mediums and we should also consider student's genes, environment and support system.

Hence, in student's success, both deserve to claim credit for student's success.

However, the story is different in a case if students fail academically; the teacher should take full responsibility on it. Just like what I believe, the teacher is the most powerful entity in the classroom to make the student learn how to learn. Just like the Dr. Chew mentioned, everything can be learned, it just need a long process, and in that process, it includes the teacher.

It may sound so unfair for us- teachers, but that is our main responsibility. It is our responsibility to guide our student to achieve the different learning objectives. I believe, schools like this-UPOU is here to equipped us-future teachers to learn different skills, methodologies and theories that will enable us to make difficult subject seem to be so easy for our

I disagree with Leon Botstein's essay "Let Teenagers Try Adulthood". Botstein argues that teenagers have matured much more quickly over the past few years. Therefore, he believes high school be abolished and a child's education should begin earlier in order for students to graduate around the age of sixteen rather than eighteen. High school is intended for students of a certain maturity level. But now, students are exceeding that level rapidly. Botstein sees high school as a place full of superficial, adolescent teenagers that care more about appearances, popularity, cliques and sports than education. Because they have reached a high maturity level at such a young age already, there are many students that are wasting their junior and senior years away in high school rather than starting college. I disagree with Botstein however. High school is a transition period for students to learn how to take on more responsibilities. It is the time for teenagers to become more social and independent. While I do agree with Botstein on his point of maturity levels growing faster, I don't agree that students should be graduating earlier than they currently are. Not all students are capable of the same things. Most high school students are not prepared to enter into adulthood just yet. They still need someone to guide them along a path until they've graduated. Age restrictions are applied to the youth community for a reason. The majority of teenagers are not ready to handle the responsibilities that come their way. The legal age for drinking is 21 because of safety concerns as well as the responsibility that comes with the consumption of alcohol. Fortunately for Texas, teenagers are able to obtain their drivers license at the age of sixteen, but other states, like California, have citizens wait until they are eighteen to obtain their license with the same privileges as a sixteen year old from Texas. Responsibilities are tough to handle, even for an adult. So why have the same…

There are a number of reasons why I have considered Suny Empire State College as an option to continue my education. Suny Empire offers multiple study options such as studying with a mentor, as well as convenient online study. Suny Empire offers much more affordable education rates than many other colleges out there. I’d like to continue my education through Suny Empire to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Human Services. I believe this field of study is ideal for me as I have prior Human Services experience. Since receiving my Associates Degree through Cayuga Community College, I believe I have gained a lot of knowledge, and that I am ready for the next step for my education.…

Teaching and Learning are intertwined with each other to the degree that they complement each other by building on one’s prior knowledge. Student’s come into the classroom with open minds, and it is the teacher’s responsibility to expand their minds and fill it full of information, so that they can use the acquired knowledge to build their personality and broaden their thought process to help them solve problems of everyday life. When a student comes into the classroom they should be eager to learn and willing to build on the lessons they learned from the day before.…

Traditionally the role of the teacher has been as a purveyor of information and trusted to be the fount of all knowledge. This suggests that the teacher was the one in control of the passing of knowledge onto passive students. Of course this ‘chalk and talk’ approach has now altered dramatically from the ‘traditional’ model and thus altering the role of the teacher. Reece and Walker believe that, “ the modern teacher is facilitator: a person who assists students to learn for themselves” (Reece & Walker 2002)…

Different students have different perspectives for a teacher. Some students guess teachers should be rewarded and some others students do think so. The teachers have to try to figure out how to teach every student the same way. They have to sum up how to teach every student but try to amount what helps them understand the lesson. Not every student learns the same way they all learn a different way. Teachers can give different ideas to students to make them learn the lesson better.…

Kristina Rizga makes this point in her essay “Everything You’ve Heard About Failing Schools is Wrong.” This essay talks about a failing school that is not really failing at all. “Yet even as the school was being placed on the list of lower-performing schools, 84 percent of the graduating class went on to college.” (255). Even this school was considered one of the lowest performing schools in the country they were doing something right. The students were graduating and even continuing their education. Rizga also studied what successful classrooms were doing. “But every year he creates another folder for each class, and approximately 50 percent of the material is new.” (267). She found that this particular teacher was changing the lessons based on the students in his class while also introducing new information. “He then adjusts everything throughout the year based on works with his students.” (267). Rizga also found that he adjusting everything based on his students. He wanted them all to succeed and he was going to make sure of that, while still meeting the education systems…
