Also, if needed, the citizens should betray their own families in honor of Big Brother. Furthermore, the Party has telescreens everywhere for their constant surveillance. Julia and Winston are caught by “the picture [that] had fallen to the floor, uncovering the telescreen behind it” (Orwell 230). The telescreens are used to keep an eye and monitor negative actions against the Party. The government comes after the person who goes against the Party.
