Three Influences and their effects The three main influences that were responsible for my interest in Soccer were local soccer Championships every mouth, friends and School soccer team. These three influences motivated me to learn new skills and moves that made me win the best Center defense award in high school. I still think if I wasn’t influenced by these three things today I wouldn’t have so many soccer awards from middle school to high school. My family responsibilities total destroyed my dream of becoming a soccer player and now when I think of soccer, it reminds me of my broken dream. The local soccer championship in Oman every mouth in our town were the days when I was introduced to soccer in a young age. First time didn’t understand the game, but kids learn better than adults, so I start playing with older kids. Local soccer championship in town putted that passion in me and gives us motivation in our self with amazing matches that were played by players in a hundred degree weather. The winner in these matches got hundred dinars from the government. My friends were my motivation, because they were there for me when my family financial situations were hard. My friends or teammates give me hundred dinars every week to help me to buy my brother a taxi. They influenced me with their kindness and teaching me that soccer can be used to benefit

The next person I interviewed is Alex Torres a 17 year old high school senior, told me why he loved soccer so much, “soccer is actually a lot of fun. You have more planning and you don’t get hurt as much as you think. In fact you have to be more flexible then powerful to play the game.” I asked him if he thought that his heritage liked football more than other sports and he said, “Yes, because it was the only sport we could really play when we lived in México, all my friends there play it too.” Alex is very active, and has participated in many soccer games.…

It started just as any normal Saturday would; December 8, 2012, I woke up, went through my morning routine and went to soccer practice. I was competing for a spot on the North Carolina ODP (Olympic Development Program) soccer team. Training was being held at fields about two hours from my house. I sat in the backseat of my dad’s car with my two sisters and as we rode to the fields I began to mentally prepare myself for how I would play my best and make the team.…

It has not always been a friendly sport and in some areas it was even banned by many because of the violence it would bring out in the players. However, with all of that, it is a game that everyone has seemed to embrace.…

Ever since kicking my first soccer ball during Kinder Kicks, soccer has become a fundamental aspect of my life. Not only have I been playing the sport since then, but the sport has also influenced me beyond solely playing it. It is the culture surrounding the game as well. It is waking up early every Saturday morning to watch the Liverpool game, or getting ready to cheer on the New England Revolution in Gillette Stadium in the evenings. Soccer has been embedded everywhere in my life, from the posters on my bedroom walls to the jerseys that continue to accumulate on my closet floor. This passion has driven me to share the sport with as many as I can. With the Natick Soccer Organization, I have been organizing tournaments for U10 and U14 boys…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

In order to be accepted into a discourse community, a person must learn typical ways people in that community communicate and argue. In this paper I will prove that I entered the discourse community of my high school soccer team by acquiring knowledge, establishing my credibility, and learning the game I love. In other words, I will be using the ethos, logos, and pathos appeals. I love to play soccer and watch the professionals who play on TV. I have played since I was ten years old and always played in a city league team. The requirements of being part of the team were simple but at the same time very hard. I was recently part of my high school soccer team, the Crowley Eagles. People might have looked at us as just a regular soccer team, but we were a family that grew to love each other. From losing most games in the season to coming back and being undefeated we always stuck together.…

As my childhood gradually transitioned into my adolescent years, I was old enough to realize my dreams of becoming a professional athlete wouldn’t serve as a career path. By the time middle school rolled around, I slowly narrowed down by ambitious list of activities to the one I was most passionate about: soccer. Through the first awkward relationships, real homework assignments and horrifying threat of detentions, soccer was always something I could look forward to.…

Soccer has been a huge part of my life since I was young. Ever since I can remember, I’ve joined the school soccer team when I was given the option. Of all the years I was involved in soccer, my high school freshman year was the most memorable. Due to my advanced skills, I was put in the senior soccer team, a feat quite difficult to accomplish for any incoming athlete. That year our school hired a highly experienced coach; he made our school team feel like a real discourse community. Unlike other coaches I’ve had before, his knowledge and wisdom of the game of soccer surpassed that of anyone I’ve met. From the very first day of try-outs, I felt like I was part of a professional soccer team. Running back and forth across the soccer field, my classmates and I were working hard to impress the new coach, as he was just hours away from picking his team players. Little did I know I was in for an experience of a lifetime.…

It’s pretty obvious what ill be talking about today and for those that are completely clueless then good at least I’m surprising a few. For those who don’t know what I’m holding, this right here established the foundation of my childhood, culture, and future. You guys thought I was going to keep it simple and say, “It’s just a soccer ball” well yes it is but to me it’s so much more than that. Lets begin with saying soccer is universal. There is so much more than running non-stop for 90 minutes and going up and down a field chasing a ball. Since I cant speak for everyone in the room and I don’t have super powers to read peoples mind, to me, soccer builds our character, holds families together, and brings a divided world into one.…

Sitting on top of our 10-passenger van, I could see the entire dirt pitch with dusty chalk lines surrounded by hundreds of cheering fans. Two local Haitian teams battled it out on the soccer field that night as I sat and soaked it all in. I was in Gonaives, Haiti volunteering as a sports leader for a summer program through Zion’s Children of Haiti - a charity aimed at improving educational opportunities for children in need. Watching the game play out in front of me, I realized even though my Haitian Creole language skills were lacking, there was a language we had in common: “foutbòl”.…

I started playing club soccer when I was 7 years old, playing for under the wing of Charley Amblo. This was a training team only, it was not till I was nine that I was started playing for a travel team. The cliche “practice makes perfect” is true. It applies the same in my academic life as well as in my athletic life. To be specific, the sport I play is soccer. I discovered my passion since I was six. Soccer is my escape and my motivation at the same time. It's my escape when I’m having problems at school, like being stressed out for projects, or at home, having family problems. For example i’ll be having an argument with my mom and I get frustrated so I just grab a ball and go outside to relax.…
