With Trayvon being black he attracted to Zimmerman’s eye more quickly because of his skin color not because of the actions he was participating in. I believe Zimmerman only shot Trayvon, because of the color of his skin and the perceived idea that Trayvon was going to partake in an illegal action. Which leads me to the stereotypical part of this case. Stereotypes are images of a racial or cultural group that are held by many people whether or not they are true. If you are black you are held to more dangerous/ ruthless stereotypes than if you are white. With Zimmerman seeing a black person he probably thought about the stereotypes of blacks being murderers, robbers, drug dealers and so on, just because the color of his skin not because of Zimmerman actually seeing Trayvon doing these activities. In my opinion these stereotypes are out dated, because in today’s world anyone could participate in the stereotypes blacks have and anyone could participate in the stereotypes whites have of being wealthy, trustworthy, hardworking and so on. Zimmerman “was taken into custody but was released without charges being filed” (CBS NEWS). Not being charged with any type of crime leaves me disgusted and I believe that if the roles were reversed and Zimmerman was black and Trayvon was white, Zimmerman would have not been released from jail so quickly and have pleaded guilty for
