Bekah Lape: The theme statement talks about people accepting places and unusual traits. “‘Friends,’ he said, ‘I am pleased to tell you that the new high priest of Quill, Gunnar Haluki, and I have come to an agreement: Our two lands will live separately, in peace’” (McMann 385). This quote shows Quill and Artimé coming to an agreement about living with one allowing magic and the other keeping it away. Also, people are allowed to switch between the two lands as they please without having to worry about being eliminated.

In the book, twins bring up a different meaning than usual. One twin is the representation of good and the other is a representation of evil. Alex and Mr. Today would be the good half of the twins, and Justine and Aaron would be the evil other half of the twins.
Symbol - Creativity
The everyday world has a different meaning for creativity. This meaning is of people who think of unusual solutions to problems that non-creative people wouldn’t usually think of. In “The Unwanteds”, creativity has a different interpretation. This is that there are an infinite number of possibilities that could occur or people could create.
