This is because with the rapid advancement of technology, people tend to rely on the use of technology in the near future, therefore, face-to-face communication is reduced. This can be seen in ‘The Veldt’, where the children have substituted the affections from their parents with the nursery room, and thus, the room eventually becomes more important than their own parents. Therefore, the social concern is raised in this matter where with the ‘nursery room’ machine, the children in the future is likely to develop a communication gap with their parents. Besides that, in story of ‘Marionettes Inc.’, the creation of a clone robot to own-self has raised concerns that in the near future, there will be people who create their own clones because they do not want the annoyance from the other half, which shows disrespectful to the marriage. This is seen where Brailing Two is created by Brailing in order to replace him temporarily as he wanted to go to Rio and to escape from his clingy wife which he does not love, “When I return from Rio, Brailing Two here will go back in his box.”. The rising advancement of technology, and more in the future has caused the individuals to be increasingly dependent on the usage of the equipment. For example, in ‘The Veldt’, the Hadley’s were all completely dependent on the machine that they had in their Happylife Home which this has brought the family numerous convenience where the family need not to do anything. This has resulted in the over reliance to the technology as in the story in the future, the individuals in the future will not know the technique of doing their own stuffs, like tie their own shoelace, "That sounds dreadful! Would I have to tie my own shoes instead of letting the shoe tier do it”. This has developed the irresponsibility and dependency of the individuals in the near future towards technology. Moreover, in ‘Marionettes Inc.’, the creation of Brailing Two has evidenced that the irresponsibility of Brailing creates his clone robot in order to escape from his wife for a trip which is unethical to the marriage. Therefore, this evidenced that the social concern is raised as of the irresponsibility of the individuals with use of technology in the

Computers, telephones, cars, television---all these gadgets and inventions have only just come about within the past century. Being such recent additions to society, people surely survived before their creation; sadly, there are rarely any people today that understand what that was like. Hardly ever are people not on their smartphones anymore, whether they’re texting their friends, looking something up, or using social media. Whatever the reason, people are constantly relying on technology to do something for them nowadays. The author Ray Bradbury emphasizes this in his short stories, “The Pedestrian” ,“The Veldt”, and “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains”, where the main characters rely so heavily on their technologically innovative houses to feed, entertain, and aid them in their daily lives that all the outcomes are anything but positive. Negative consequences like these aren’t fictional like most of the components of Bradbury’s stories, though; scientists have already found many…

The constant need to be using a source of technology weakens family bonds. Rather than communicating in person, we choose to text or call. As a matter of fact, most adolescents prefer browsing through their endless social media accounts on smartphones, rather than sitting down to have a conversation with their parents. In another one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories, “The Veldt”, he portrays how an attraction for technology is greater than human attraction. In “The Veldt” the mother says, “...I feel like I don’t belong. The house is wife and mother now, and nursemaid. The home is a fine representation of the advancement of technology in which it performs the task that mother might do. Furthermore, the children in the short story grow more fond of the technology in the “nursery” than of their own parents. The story explains that the parents, “..let this room and this house replace you and your wife in your children’s affections”, continuing, “This room is their mother and father, far more important in their lives than their real parents.” Advance technology takes over the family base of love and comfort. “The Veldt” warns the readers of what is to come if technology is more comforting than others…
