1. What were the primary reasons for changing the current system?
At Butler University there were many causes for change. Of these included improving the student’s ability to communicate within the college community and their need for voice mailboxes. A second reason for the change is the need for a way to handle high call volumes (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, and Perkins, 2003).

What elements of the data warehousing environment at Continental are necessary to support the extensive end-user BI application development that occurs? In order for real time data warehousing to work many elements are required. These include the mainframe reservation system, satellite feeds from airplanes, central customer database and all other data sources such as their website, customer service applications, frequent flyer programs and reservation systems. Each of these works together and for every change that is made it is sent back to the data warehouse and displayed or is available to all customers within minutes (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, and Perkins, 2003). 4. Why does Continental believe that a third normal form enterprise data model is important? They believed the third normal form enterprise data model is important to help with the second one to allow for the maintenance and adjustability to move their first to favorite plan into action. To do this the three models are setup to deal with Marketing, Corporate Security and Revenue Management. Revenue management brings in information about where they are as far as flight sales so they know what must be done to keep shortages from happening. 2. What are the pros and cons of working for Hewlett-Packard and MHS?
Working for MHS had many pros and cons. These include: controlling procurement processes would be very difficult because of the diversity of what they do.
The hospital would be highly decentralized due to the knowledge needed to order items.
Hospitals also seemed to make close relationships with buyers allowing all competition to become almost non existent.
Hospitals also do not spend a lot of money on newer technologies as fast as some of the other industries do.
The hospital did not offer much stability.
There was a chance to start something new and get experiences he would not get at
