The Walking Dead Analysis
Carol starts out in The Walking Dead, a popular TV show, as soft-spoken and defenseless. She is abused by her husband, Ed, who eventually dies from being bitten by a zombie. Carol’s daughter, Sophia, is also soft-spoken, fearful, and defenseless like her mother, which is the cause of her turning into a zombie and eventually being killed. After Ed and Sophia died, Carol became independent and realistic. She knows that the world is a cruel place and must survive any way possible.

Carol from The Walking Dead demonstrates long term potentiation. Before the zombie apocalypse, Carol was in an abusive relationship and had no way to defend herself. After the apocalypse, it was required of her to defend herself in order to survive, eventually

When Carol and the group were in the prison, they came across some prisoners that had survived. Rick decided to keep them in the group, but one prisoner named Andrew left a gate open and zombies began to come into the prison. T-Dog and Carol were outside moving vehicles when they began to be attacked. In the halls of the prison, Carol and T-Dog were cornered with no way out, so T-Dog sacrificed himself while Carol ran away in order to survive. There are many times when Carol avoided being confronted with a threat, which is avoidance. Every time a person died but their brain was still intact, she would stick a knife in their brain. This prevents the dead from coming back as a zombie, which are threats to everyone living. Specifically, Carol killed Karen and David, two sick members of the prison group that threatened to infect everyone with a sickness. This sickness could’ve killed everyone in the prison, and Carol tried to prevent it by killing the source.
On a daily basis in the Walking Dead, Carol uses long term potentiation, escape learning and avoidance in order to survive. Shooting a gun, fighting with knives, or using hand to hand combat is something Carol does every day. Most likely she will never forget how to do these things because she has done them every day for so long. Avoiding and escaping situations are also essential to live, and go hand in hand with her memory. If Carol cannot avoid a situation, she can escape using her fighting

The television show “Roots”, a miniseries airing in the late Seventies, provided gripping and emotional insight into the lives of a fictional family victimized by slavery. This controversial project attempted to depict some semblance of the horrific history of the American black community in a way that the primarily white population would willingly consume. Unfortunately, this depicted the African-American involuntary “immigration” experience as one that was terrible yet palatable, tying it up nicely with the bow of a “happy ending”. “Roots” opened a dialogue amongst the American people and carved out a place for African-Americans in mainstream television that wasn’t comedy, but also catered to the comfort of its white audience. This show worked…

In memory loss there are two broad categories that involves this kind of memory loss, amnesia and dementia. Amnesia is a partial or complete loss of memory due to loss of consciousness, brain damage, or some psychological cause. Unlike the memory disorders that are experienced by some older adults, amnesia can be experienced at any age. In some cases, amnesia takes the form of an inability to store new information. This kind of amnesia is known as anterograde amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is the inability to form long-term memories of events occurring after a brain injury or brain surgery, although memories formed before the trauma are usually intact and short-term memory is unaffected. Some individuals with amnesia can form new memories, but they cannot remember the past, a disorder known as retrograde amnesia. Retrograde amnesia is a loss of memory for experiences that occurred shortly before a loss of consciousness. These people often lack knowledge of themselves and/or the events surrounding the development of their memory loss. It is not unusual for a person to have both retrograde and anterograde amnesia with regard to the events that immediately preceded and followed a serious car crash or other traumatic event (p. 189). Another form of memory loss is dementia. Dementia is a state of mental deterioration characterized by impaired memory and intellect and by altered personality and behavior. Dementia can result from such conditions as cerebral arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries in the brain), chronic alcoholism, and irreversible damage by a small series of strokes. Dementia is most common among older adults. However, diseases such as HIV/AIDS can cause dementia to develop in a younger person as well. About 50 to 60% of all cases of dementia result from Alzheimer's disease. This is a progressive deterioration of intellect and personality that results from widespread degeneration of brain cells…

Throughout the 1960’s the majority of the news was focused on death. Throughout the 60’s multiple assassinations occurred as well as the start of the Vietnam War. Employment rates were dropping and the nation was in turmoil. The nation’s people were afraid of death and likely began seeing it as unavoidable. They had lost a president and a Civil Rights Leader and many had family and friends who were sent to war. It probably seemed that everyone was doomed and no one was invincible.…

From the Carol detractor's perspective, you were annoyed as fuck, but I digress. Carol evolved and they put her in more dangerous moments (the walkers were still risky then). Killer Within was the beginning of the misattribution of arousal. The beloved T-Dog died and in the shock of his death, hands sweating, adrenal glands pumping, some of us (the Carol fans mostly) transferred the emotions to Carol, who he saved, making her the beloved character when really the emotional intensity stemmed from sadness. We knew that she should've been dead and he should've been alive, but we suppressed the logical thought with hysteria. Even I, a Carol detractor, found myself liking her because she was saved. The homogeneity slightly returned as Carol didn't superman her way out of dehydration and didn't head to Woodbury. Good, right? Not for long. Axel gets sniped and once again, shock is misattributed as love for Carol, who conveniently lucks out with her own meat shield.…

Is it mercy killing when a man kills an animal if they are no longer useful? Or is it the right thing to do for a man to kill a person who is on the verge of turning into a zombie? Well in the video game “The Walking Dead” there are decisions that are made that can hurt or help you and the group that you may be put in. You would think that in a crisis situation you would make the right decision. But we realize that we question our decisions after they are made and we sit there and hope that they turn out to be good or bad for us in the short or long run.…
