personnel, bankers, mechanics, doctors, researchers, drivers, and more. A soldier’s MOS is their specific assigned job, likewise it is important that they know how to effectively perform the necessary actions. Some people are simply infantry, thus those soldiers train to fight and deploy to combat. Others are educated to be cooks, while others are instructed to be whatever they are assigned. Everybody has a role to partake in while in a combat environment. Everybody in the Army is a member of a team. If a part of the team fails, then it is hard for everyone to pick up the slack and still succeed. In order to be competent, effective, and confident in your MOS, you must train and have experience. This is where the need for increased preparation is apparent. For example, my husband works as an I.T. professional for the Army. He has done his job a total of two weeks in almost one year. Should the Army want him to deploy to a combat environment, the ability for him to do his job could make a huge impact on the lives of other soldiers. Without effective communication all order is lost, it is harder to accomplish tasks, and it will lead to lower morale and disputes between team members. The Army struggles with communication between its ranks. Tasks that need completed are not put out until the end of the day, which leads to soldiers staying late, and missing needed time with their families to relax. The instructions to accomplish tasks are rarely put out because of the lack of knowledge or laziness in the leadership. The lower enlisted soldiers are meant to be followers who obey direct orders and commands. The Army drills them to not think too much on their own, and to follow what they are told. Without clear instructions, it is much harder for a lot of soldiers to do what needs to be done. In a combat environment, lack of communication will eventually lead to preventable deaths. It is important both strategically and tactically to communicate constantly. You need to know when everyone is moving, when they are ready to cover you, when you need to halt, and so forth. Lack of communication disrupts the flow of this needed information, and makes it very hard to defeat the enemy. Radio communication is a very important skill that many soldiers never obtain. A lot of the time in combat environments is spent in vehicles with radio communication capabilities. It is vital to understand not only how the radio operates, but how to
