The Westing Game Compare And Contrast
After watching the movie, Get a Clue, and reading the book, The Westing Game, I noticed many significant differences and similarities. These can change how you watch the movie or read the book. The differences that stood out to me the most were that the movie is told in Turtle’s point of view, there are less characters in the movie, and the characters’ personalities were different. The story can be changed by all of these, and these are the reasons why.

The first difference I will talk about is the point of view in the movie and the book. The movie, Get a Clue, was narrated by Turtle, and therefore in her point of view. Only her thoughts and ideas are said. The book is told in third person point of view, so it includes everyone’s thoughts

Both the movie and the book share a basic concept of showing an understanding of a story being told. The book does a more in depth explanation and a better job of narrating the story. John Knowles novel, A Separate Peace, is a story about a destructive and corrupt relationship between Finny and Gene who both attend Devon School around World War ll where most boys went off to fight in the army not realizing there was already a war created within themselves, hence the title, A Separate Peace. The book does a much more effective job of telling the story compared to the movie. In the novel, the story is being told from Gene's perspective whereas in the movie, it is being told from a third persons point of view. Also, Cliff…

The final difference that i’ll talk about is the bird attacks. Between the book and the film, there were attacks in the movie that didn’t happen in the book, and the same for the other way around. In the movie, the first attack with multiple birds was at Mitch’s sister’s birthday party, which didn’t exist in the book. While in the movie, the first attack was in Nat’s childrens bedroom. Also, in the book, Nat was attacked for an entire night, and he was by himself. That also didn’t happen in the book. In the movie, Mitch’s ex girlfriend was murdered by the birds, and in the book, Nat’s ex was never…

One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…

After reading The Westing Game I decided it would make for a very intriguing book trailer because it is a mystery. Most people can get easily caught up in the drama of a mystery because by nature people are normally very curious. I knew that by making a book trailer I could give the viewer some key details, then leave them with questions in order to get them more interested in reading the book. The point of making a trailer for anything is to persuade the viewer to either watch a certain movie or read a certain book. The ending of The Westing Game is very unexpected and I think it is more satisfying because the reader doesn’t see it coming. My trailer for The Westing Game provides the viewer with a basic understanding of what the book is…
