Whitetails are so populated because today there are not many bears, cougars, wolves, and coyotes around like there was back in the day. Whitetails love deforestation because it gives them cover from predators and to keep their young safe. Deer numbers increase a lot every year, because not as many people deer hunt anymore and that causes the deer population to go up. Controlling the deer population is important because whitetails leave droppings everywhere, also when they die their carcasses sit there and rot until something eats them. Deer also destroy people's gardens and sometimes deer attack humans. Every year deer cost the U.S 248 million dollars a year in damage to gardens, house yards, and fields. Whitetails also eat 15 million tons of food a year. Sometimes they also eat plants that are very rare, if so those plants may vanish. Also, whitetail deer carry diseases that can kill livestock and other animals. To control the population better, the government has set laws focusing on how many deer and what type of deer you can shoot. Deer are becoming a worldwide populated and domestic problem that is almost impossible to stop.
