When you realize the world around you, is not a construct that you align with, it weighs on you and brings you down to a depressive state. Wordsworth discusses a feeling of isolationism, stating that he would either rather be around for a simpler time or find a way to be alone. I align with this on a personal level because I feel that it is incredibly hard to be in a society where you don’t agree with the disrespect to the Earth, and the lack of gratitude we show to it. Most of the world simply dumps garbage onto our earth, “littering” is only a mild offense. Society then chooses to neglect that the hot, toxic asphalt that we dump onto the once luscious green of the Earth, is the biggest form of littering. Our heads are turned when we chop down trees to use for paper that we ultimately waste anyway and ruining the habitats of many animals. “Going green” is just an attempt to make us feel slightly better about destroying the Earth, while hardly contributing to the preservation of it. The average person will only care about the Earth when we realize that we can not eat money and by that point it will be way too late to salvage anything. The new generation only cherishes this Earth when they can take a photo of it, or if they just brag about where they are via Facebook.
