In the passage, we see the main two characters talking about their own experiences at the circus. They start to reminisce on what happened back then and because of this we see some foreshadowing. Their own experiences lead us to believe that they will allow their children to go due to the enjoyment it brought them. This happens by the two adults becoming closer again.
When Hester tells the boys they may go she feels the need to also stick up for her husband because of their new found reconnection. She says, “and you be careful of that an’ don’t waste it. Your father works hard for his money.”
The ordering of the paragraphs gives us insight on the way Hester and William have remained together. We learn subjects that are important to the story as a whole within the ordering. For example, We are taught that Hester and William are not as close anymore and due to the conversation between them, There is a reconnection. It is an example of the Impact it has on the story. Due to this, Hester says the words about not wasting the money when she hands it to them. It also gives us insight as to the reason she felt the need to say it to them.
