In The Great Gatsby, we see this a lot happen over and over as if Fitzgerald made all these chapters follow one simple theme. On page 91 of the book we see an example of it when Gatsby shows his house to Daisy. Nick explains, … I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure od response it drew from her well-loved eyes” (91). In addition, this scene is evident because, in the novel, the character’s status was determined by their possessions.
