EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO EDO STATE AGENCY FOR THE CONTROL OF AIDS (EDO SACA) ON HIV/AIDS PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2 (HPDP 2)
BACKGROUND
Globally, millions of deaths attributable to HIV/AIDS are still being recorded. The disease constitutes a huge epidemiologic burden in Africa and continues to cripple the economic development in the regions.
HIV/AIDS is responsible for 60% outpatient visits to health facilities, 30% childhood death, 25% of death in children under one year and 11% of maternal death in Nigeria. The financial loss due to HIV/AIDS annually is estimated to be about 132 billion Naira in form of treatment cost, prevention, loss of productive hours etc, though not curable yet but very manageable and preventable.
In the light of the above, concerted efforts are being made by Government, Civil Society Organizations which we represent, the Public and Private Sectors, Families and the likes to find a lasting solution to the problem of HIV/AIDS
TAMPEP ONLUS (ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS FOR THE PROTECTION OF VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING): ASSOP is a Civil Society Organization committed to intervene in the issues about HIV Prevention of New infections, and Care and Support for PLHIV in Nigeria with Edo State as a focal point. The Vision of ASSOP is consistent with the Vision of NACA which SACA represents in Edo State- “A Nigeria society that is free of HIV/AIDS”.ASSOP has membership strength of 7 people with 4 being paid staff and 3 as volunteers concentrated within Edo South Senatorial District and particularly in Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Local Government Areas.
