Therapeutic Cloning Benefits
Cloning, especially cloning humans, can be a very beneficial field of research and presents lots of opportunities to do good. The science in embryonic cloning has progressed a long way since the release of therapeutic cloning practices and the birth of cloned organism. The processes opens new opportunities in the fields of medicine, scientific research, and has several uses in the future when there are more advanced practices that are even more efficient and safer with fewer restrictions. None of these ideas are very far fetched, cloning can be a great thing in mere years.

Cloning is a growing industry that is gaining more support and progress yearly, the process of therapeutic cloning is becoming more practical every year, the growth of sciences similar to this is remarkable and groundbreaking. The sciences of cloning are complicated and confusing, and understanding the terms and lexicon used in the essay is important, let me explain the background information and define terms. In cloning, there are several ways to clone an animal, the most common way of cloning is nuclear transfer, where you clone an embryo and change the nuclei in the cell to revert to a primitive state so it cannot divide naturally. From there, the embryo is placed inside an egg cell and starts to fertilize. Therapeutic cloning

Cloning has a great impact on everything, and has not ruined the world yet. Cloning also has many options for medicine and science, scientists say “Human therapeutic cloning could play an important role in regenerative medicine by providing embryonic stem cells for treatment that are derived from the patient’s own cells. For instance, patients requiring a bone marrow transplant would no longer have to wait for a compatible

Ever since the birth of the first cloned sheep, named Dolly, the dream of human cloning has existed (Van Dijck, 1999). Cloning a mammal is described as the manipulation of an animal or human cell in order to create an identical copy of that animal’s or human’s nucleic DNA (Andrews, 1997). Though the dream of a human clone also comes with a lot of controversy regarding ethics and morals. Embryotic stem cell research, which could lead to a renewable source of human tissue, cells and eventually entire organs (Bowring, 2004), is highly controversial due to the necessity of placing a cloned embryo into a woman’s body in order to achieve that research. Politicians differentiate between therapeutic cloning and reproductive cloning as they refer to the second as “implanting a cloned embryo in a woman's womb” (Bowring, 2004), as for the embryo itself the research is not very therapeutic. Furthermore cloning by transfer of nuclei is not very effective yet as only 1% of manipulated sheep eggs reach adulthood and the number is even lower for other animals (Solter, 2000). The question whether human cloning will ever be possible and ethical remains to be answered but it seems certain that extra research in embryotic stem cells will improve techniques and success rates, which eventually brings the realization of a human clone closer one step at a time.…

There are some positives to cloning but only therapeutic cloning when it is used to replicate cells. Therapeutic cloning produces embryonic stem cells for creating tissues to replace injured or diseased tissues(3). This can be used to cure people not harm them. Artificial cloning can be good for the studies and discoveries that have been made but otherwise the animals that die are not helping anyone.…

Human Cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of an existing, or previously existing, human being or growing cloned tissue from that individual (Cloning Fact Sheet). Scientists remove the nucleus, which contains the genetic material, from an egg. The genetic material from an adult somatic cell is removed and placed in the egg. It now has a complete set of genes. The egg is placed in a petri dish to allow it to develop into an embryo, which is placed into a surrogate mother to continue to grow and develop into a baby (Genetic Science Learning Center). This technique is called nuclear transfer or nuclear transplantation because they transfer the nucleus from one cell to another (Kilner). Therapeutic cloning is a technique of human…

Over the years, science and technology have expanded to make it possible to create identical creatures. While new cloning technology is a great advancement, it raises a plethora of moral and ethical questions. Cloning may bring about new ways to find cures for babies, according to Philip M. Boffey, but cloning also “could usher in a new eugenics”. The problems produced from the prospect of cloning greatly outweigh the benefits.…

Though out many years, movies and television shows such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and many others have enlightened our imagination on cloning organisms. Today, it appears that this idea that looked unreachable, now seems to be within our grasp due to our technological leap in genomic science. But we are not interested in just regular cloning, we want to reach for the stars and successfully be able to produce copies of not just other animals, but humans as well. This turns to the new scientific phenomenon that is reproductive cloning. Cloning is a form of asexual reproduction that makes identical genomic copies of the original animal either by producing specific cells or tissue, where reproductive cloning has the ability to clone the entire animal that is produced by a single cell. This process differs drastically from original sexual reproduction. Normal sexual reproduction occurs when a sperm that contains one set of chromosomes (23) reaches and fertilizes with an egg with another set of…

Proponents of human cloning hold out two hopes for its use: (1) the creation of children for infertile couples (so-called "reproductive cloning"), and (2) the development of medical miracles to cure diseases by harvesting embryonic stem cells from the cloned embryos of patients (euphemistically termed "therapeutic cloning").…

For many years, scientists have been experimenting in the field of cloning. Cloning uses an egg cell and a somatic cell to make a duplicate copy of the organism. It is currently a highly controversial topic in the scientific world. Many people can benefit from cloning. From farmers to patients, not only does cloning help scientists discover more about genetics, it will also help a lot of people. However, there are also ethical issues with cloning, such as the use of embryonic stem cells and cross-species hybrids. For instance, at the Salk institute, a human-pig embryo was recently made and destroyed. The purpose of the experiment was to see if human organs could be grown inside a pig. The authors believe that we are still far off from accomplishing cloning of human organs in animals. I believe that cloning will help this world, but there needs to be restrictions on human cloning and cross-breeding.…

The idea of cloning and the reproduction of humans without the use traditional methods is now becoming a reality, thanks to the scientific advancements that the 21st century has to offer. The article, “The Twin Paradox” brings new light to this moral, ethical, and social complication. Cloning is an act of creating an exact genetic copy of an organism. Whether it be sheep, a fish, or eventually a human, all of these organisms have genetic compounds that are able to be copied. This article in particular, debunks the myths of cloning and gives reason as to why cloning is a progression of technology that should be acknowledged, not banned.…

In view of all that has been mentioned above, it is illustrated that molecular cloning has a very different process from therapeutic and reproductive cloning. Keeping in mind, both therapeutic and reproductive cloning techniques are very similar, concluding the same results, but are used for different types of practice. Development of therapeutic and reproductive cloning has been measured through the methods of nuclear transfer (SCNT) and embryo twinning. On the contrary, the development of molecular cloning is a method of inserting a foreign DNA into a vector, which is then left under laboratory conditions for it to multiply and replicate numerous times.…

There are so many positives and benefits from therapeutic cloning. “We may be able to cure cancer if cloning leads to a better understanding of cell differentiation”(Smith). “Cloning can be used to get more hair from a few sample hair follicles of grafts from the patient's head and then grow them”(Smith). This shows that it can possibly cure cancer which has no solution right now and also let people with no hair grow hair. This can be from some type of disease that makes their hair fall such as cancer. This can make them very happy and can make the person more confident in themselves. Although some may agree with this, others may argue that reproductive cloning should also…
