In sports teamwork is everything, there’s the phrase ‘There is no I in TEAM”, which is very true. For example, about two years ago there was a college football game between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, there was a play where the cornerback tipped the ball that was headed to the sidelines into play to allow his teammate to intercept the ball. The importance of that play simply showed a lot, it may have looked simple but the cornerback needed to know that his teammate would be there and be able to catch the ball giving them a huge turnover at a crucial point in the game. You can not win a game because of one player's good performance, the whole team has to contribute in their own way in order to get the win. For athletes striving for bigger and better things is the main goal, LeBron James for example, one of my favorite athletes, known as one of the best, goes by a motto, ‘Striving for Greatness” it allows him to aim for a higher goal. I think it’s …show more content…
inspirational how he influences young kids to make goals for themselves. Teaching a child at a young age to set goals for themselves is important, it teaches them that you may have worked hard all week and loss or maybe won but didn’t give the best performance. The event that will help us understand this was when Cam Newton, Quarterback for the Panthers, walked out of a press conference after losing the super bowl. He has been known as a player that does not like to lose, it’s not bad because losing is hard especially in an important game. But young athletes need to know that is it ok to lose, you have to work harder for next time and not break down because of a single loss. Overall young children competing in competitive sports has many benefits, it builds them to become a better athlete in the future bringing them bigger and better opportunities. To sum up my reasoning, I believe that children should be able to play highly competitive sports at a young age.
I have found more pros than cons in this situation, children get many benefits from playing sports at a young age. Parents need to understand that a child will get hurt no matter what, they’re children, they’re going to explore and have fun and get hurt. That’s part of being a kid, a parent can not be overprotective because the child will grow up being afraid. When a child starts early in life they get many benefits allowing them to excel in the
future.
