Love plays a significant role in numerous Greek myths. It influences the emotions and actions of characters, thus often overpowering their mindset and their decisions. Many times, these decisions lead to negative consequences. In the stories of Jason and Medea and Ariadne and Theseus, the central characters make rash decisions and manipulate love for their personal advantages which leads to their destruction or destruction around them. In several Greek myths, love is a selfish act on behalf of the characters and this selfishness leads to tragedy.
