Son of the murder who killed a daughter of Umuofia Nwoye- Okonkwo’s first son, he describes him as lazy. Ekwefi- Okonkwo’s second wife, mother of Ezinma, loves Ezinma dearly, they have a strong bond. Had ten children only Ezinma lived. Ezinma- daughter of Ekwefi and Okonkwo, Okonkwo is fond of her, her mom describes her as wise, Nwoye’s mother calls her Ezigbo which means the good one. Ogbanje, Ekwefi’s only child. Obierika- father of Maduka, friend of Okonkwo, wise, open-minded Chielo- priestess of Agbala, friend of Ekwefi, likes Ezinma Enoch- a Christian convert who de masks an egwugwu, angering them and causing the clash between the Christians and the natives; careless; ignorant Mr. Brown- the first white missionary ; peaceful; open-minded; he tries to keep peace and makes compromises. Mr. Smith- second missionary he is the opposite of Mr. Brow. He demands obedience and thinks other religions and customs are dumb; narrow- minded District commissioner- tyrant; villainous, miscreant snake in the grass, ignorant; coward

• Pg. 2- egwugwu- a person that imitates an ancestral village spirit; used to teach them tunes. • Yams-crop, the more fields of yams you have the higher you are in society. Yams are a symbol of wealth and power,pg.4 Yams are thought of as godly, there is a God of yams named Ifejioku. They are the king of crops. • Kola, pg.3- symbolizes life • Cowries- money,pg.5 • Twins- ozu; outcast who are thrown in the evil forest, and can’t cut their hair. Thought of as heathens.
