Okonkwo was one of the highest men in his tribe, a well respected man. Paul was the manager of a big time hotel, where he had many friends in high places and many connections in which people respected. This status of power, was a strength to both of these men. They knew how to run things ad take control, they knew how to be a leader and to earn respect. Unfortunately Okonkwo was not able to keep this respect throughout the whole book, he lost it . Paul was able to keep the respect of others by keeping many Hutu and Tutsi refugees safe throughout the genocide. This brings out the weakness in Okonkwo. He was too focused on being a powerful man that he lost grasp of his people. One of Okonkwo's biggest weaknesses was not being able to control the situation he was given. He lost control of his family and his people. Paul's weakness was not as massive as Okonkwo, he was able keep control in one of the most difficult conflicts that could possibly be. His weakness was that he had a blind spot when it came to his family. He would do absolutely anything to ensure that his family would not suffer. Some would say this is being a great father and husband, others would say that it is being selfish. Paul's flaw helped him keep his family and many others safe.
