Later in the book “ Bebo!
I can't believe it. You're the first one and only one. Is it really you?! ” (229) As you can see he is very concerned and worried about his family. He is always trying to act like the big kid but they still treat him like a little kid. But he still loves them very much. He is very excited that he found Bebo! To Julian and his family, Bebo is like family. He feels a lot better now. (Bebo is someone that cooks for Julian and his
family.)
In the last section of the book, there are two quotes that support my quote. (pages 258) the first one is “ Now let's see what your friend Bebo taught you about engines.” This shows how much they are together. Also how much they learn together. The second quote is “Tomas is amazed, he says “ I would have never thought of that!”. This confirms to me that he spends the majority of his time with his family.
At last, you can understand why I chose the quote “ Family is not an important thing it's everything.” Addinotaly as the book progresses you can see it all revolved around family. That is why I was able to find good quotes in the story to support my claims. This is why I believe that the main theme of the book 90 miles to Havana is that family is not an important thing, it's everything.
