In one year 20,000 kids were kidnapped and made into soldiers. The treatment of these children is beyond imagination. Right after being taken some are forced to shoot their own family members. Then the captors brainwash them giving them clothes, violent video games, and drugs. Almost all who are exposed become addicted to the drugs. A very short time later, these kids are sent to the battlefield. They run at the front for easy targets and distraction. For most of these children that means death. Not only are boys taken, but girl as well to be used as sex slaves and to be abused in some of the most violent ways possible. It is horrifying. In 1999, there were more than 120,000 children fighting in Africa. This continues to be a horrific problem in Africa and it needs to get better. This is affecting not only the current people of Africa but also the future people of Africa. How many great ideas and power and good people will be lost to history because of this grave crime?
