Many students that attend the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) agree that UCA is a great school to attend. The beautiful scenery, wide selection of courses for several majors and the great amount of resources available to students are just a few aspects of attending UCA. Although UCA has many positive and great aspects there are various problems that need to be solved at the university. Some of these problems were brought to the attention of students (including myself) in our Writing and Research class. One problem that was constantly mentioned by many of the students was the horrible parking at UCA.
Before the problem of parking at UCA can be solved it’s important to understand what exactly is wrong with the parking at UCA. In one of the many problem essays I read about parking J. Rhynes complained about how commuters are never able to find a parking spot when they first arrive to the campus in the morning. She went on to talk about how she and many of the other commuters that attend UCA have to leave home twenty to thirty minutes before their classes start just to find a “good” parking spot. Now I understand that the parking at UCA can indeed be quite annoying but the problem with parking isn’t that there aren’t enough parking spots the problem is actually that students don’t want to walk a far distance from a particular parking lot to get to their class on campus.
In another problem essay that was written about parking the writer M. Murphee stated that UCA has a total of 6,486 parking spots but the total enrollment at UCA in 2012 was 11,107 students. She stated that during the busiest times of the day when it seems everyone is trying to find a spot to park and to get to class, there may really not be a single spot on campus to park, thus creating a big problem for the students and even for some of the staff. While I do agree that during the busiest times of the day many people are looking for a place to park, I don’t agree that
