This Charming Man

May 22nd, 1959. Steven Patrick Morrissey was given to us by the lord himself. Placed into Manchester, England. A man who could express the disdain feelings of a 1980's world youth through his lyrics, and his gravity defying ducktail hair. Mostly being known as the frontman of the Smiths; he truly defined indie/new wave music permanently, As it still affects the interests of others to this day. Morrissey began expressing his feelings through writing, and by 1982 he had founded the Smiths with Johnny Marr. His iconic lyrics, and Johnny's unmistakeable playing, landed their first single "Hand in Glove" to hit #1 on the UK charts by 1983. They continued to release singles every few months through 1987. To give you an idea of the morbid genius lyrics this man came up with, here's a few excerpts. "Oh sweetness, sweetness I was only joking when I said by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed" Taken from "Bigmouth Strikes Again" (1986, #26). Or “I called to wish you an unhappy birthday because you're evil and you lie and if you should die I may feel slightly sad, but I won't cry.” From "Unhappy Birthday" (1987). No one else wrote like he did, and in my opinion, noone ever could. I also find the way he carries himself to help show why he is the greatest entertainer. He had a knack for pissing people off. He would often make remarks such as "reggae is vile". Morrissey was never afraid to push his opinions over his work. He was a very strong vegan and chose to release an album by the title "Meat is Murder" (1985). Unfortunately, this outgoing

Born in 1941, in Minnesota, Dylan grew up with a very different childhood then other famous singers. He was brought up Jewish and spent most of his time around family since they were the majority of the Jewish people that were in town. He seemed at an early age to develop a natural talent for writing poetry. Dylan took a deep interest in listening to the radio and admired the people that were on it. He began to notice his deep love for music in high school when he taught himself to play the piano and guitar. Country music, folk, blues, and rhythm had huge impacts on him. Hank Williams was a major inspiration to Dylan as well. Dylan taught himself the skills that he needed to be noticed in the music world and this allowed him to obtain his present status as a forefather of folk music in the rock era. In 1959, Robert left home to attend the University…

Smith was born on June 5, 1723 in Fife, Scotland. His father died only a few months before his birth, leaving Smith’s mother to raise the boy herself. Because he grew up an only child with a single parent, he grew extremely attached to her. She was not his only friend, however, he was reported to talk to himself and have many imaginary friends. Psychologists today would most likely diagnose him as a paranoid schizophrenic. The only thing known of his father was that he was a Judge Advocate, clerk and legal advisor to the Courts Martial. His mother was well connected with the Scottish military; uncles and cousins and brothers were all part of their ranks. Reportedly, Smith was kidnapped by gypsies when he was four but returned to his mother shortly.…

    An Ideal Man

Life is not about gaining possessions, a good reputation or social life. There is much more to life than what meets the eye. Nothing in life will ever satisfy our human greed or desire, for the heart of man is constantly changing. Material things such as possessions, a good reputation, etc. may satisfy our desire, but only for a certain time because as soon as our heart changes we will want more and more and never be fully satisfied. We all want material things, fame and a great social life, but none of these things will ever really satisfy the desire. As Christians we know that the key to all our life is God. We can assure that God is the only one who can really satisfy our desires because he never changes. He offers us something that will last forever and that will never change, in contrast to our human desires. Jesus did not search in this world for satisfaction about anything and he is the perfect example to follow. In the novels, The Great Gatsby, The Old Man and the Sea and, The Scarlet Letter all three main characters fail to achieve true satisfaction because they pursue the wrong ideals in life. They chased materialistic ideals to satisfy their human desires which we know that in the end would leave them emptier than before since human desires always change. Our ideals should be based on God, for he never changes and as a result of that we may have a firm foundation to base our lives in.…

    The Virtuous Man

A virtuous man is all that is good. He is a man who is responsible, who stays away from anything wrong or improper. One who is always humble regardless of where he is in his life. A person who makes it a goal to continue to learn and one who is loving and kind to all that he meets. When it comes to dealing with his family, government, and religion those qualities do not change and are immediately put into place. The virtuous mans attitude and behavior towards these three entities, family, government, and religion are strong and unchanging in his values as the virtuous man. Confucius said that virtue (or the man of virtue) is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbors. This is direct evidence on how the virtuous mans behavior will correlate with his family and with his government and religion. The virtuous man will never stand alone and will always have people surrounding him. This is great evidence showing that the virtuous mans behavior will be positive towards those three entities. Confucius also says that the virtuous man is driven by responsibility, the non-virtuous man is driven by profit. Government and religion have much to do with responsibility again proving that the virtuous man has a positive relationship with his government and religion.…
