This Is Me
THIS IS ME
If I live to be a hundred and never see the seven wonders, that’ll be all right.
If I don't make it to the SA Ballet Company or to Broadway,
If I never win another trophy or medal
I'm gonna be just fine
Cause I know exactly who I am

My name is Shanique,
I am Pierre Bleeker’s almost 15-year-old teenage daughter.
I’m supposed to wear my thick-glass spectacles, but I prefer my contacts!
I have long lazy hair, but I prefer to wear it in a bun!
I love to laugh; I love to play but most of all I love to dance!

They call me Bleeker, they call me Sussa, Nix, Pokkelols and even Lyf…
I respond the best to my “God-is-Gracious” name: SHANIQUE
Sometimes I'm clueless and sometimes I'm clumsy
Sometimes I can give good advice and sometimes I can even be quite smart!
I had to play a few difficult cards life has thrown at me,
And today I’m a God girl and that's who I'll always be.
So when I make a big mistake and fall flat on my face, or should my tender heart be broken,
I know I'll be all right!
I've got friends who love me and they know just where and for what I stand,
And when the day is done
My mum will still be my biggest fan
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

I am Shanique….Please to meet

Some common themes that Chrysanthemum deals with are overcoming differences, bullying in school, and self-esteem issues. This picture book is easy for children to relate to because they have all either felt these different feelings. The emotional themes I want to discuss about this book are excited and loneliness. With a new environment, new people and friends, a lot of the times students will become lonely because they do not feel like they fit in or they do not know how to socialize with their friends. In my observation, there is a student name Ryan and he feels very lonely everyday because he does not know how to talk to his friends in his table because he feels shy. He would not talk to anyone during dancing time, work time, lunch and snack…

As pointed out previously, Huffman Trucking has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. Our huge trucking fleet and large number of employees exceed the usual numbers for a privately held trucking company. The growth of our company has become so significant that we must now face the issue of expanding our business. Even though our expansion can be done in many ways, our financial team has narrowed down our expansion options to becoming a publicly shared company (through an IPO), acquiring another organization in the same industry, or merging our business with another organization. Expanding our company in any of the for-mentioned ways can have many advantages for our owners and employees. In order to determine which expansion…

It takes something very immense to show who your real friends are. It could range from a moment of drama where a friend stays by your side, to sitting bed side by your friend in critical conditions. I learned how to be the person who shows their true side in these situations. By doing so, I have been brought closer to many people who will now return the favor when my time of need comes. Always remember to ask the question, “Who will be there for me?” when you pick friends to bring into your circle.…

Over the years that I’ve been at Burdick, I’ve gained many great friends, but I also lost a few. Only a few selective of them, I tell my secrets to. For example, Kaiden, Coreena, Dakota, Elysium, Joelle, Jose, and Isaiah. They’re the greatest friends anyone could ask for and have. They’re loyal, truthful, understanding, funny, witty, sarcastic, and just plain awesome. I have them to thank for making ordinary moments, extraordinary. They’re always there when I want to hang out or vent out my feelings. They put in that extra effort to understand me for who I am, not caring the slightest bit about my flaws and imperfections. And if I ever need to shed some tears, I know that at least one of them will be there to comfort me. There are times where…

Friends are always there when you need some time away from everything. Even though you and your friends tend to get into fights you, will always end up forgiving them because you have something important to tell them. Whenever I’m with my friends, I can always be my crazy loud self even if they get mad at me for being too loud. Although they may get frustrated with me, I know they will still accept me for who I am.…

My definition of fun is running through Wal-Mart with people doing random things to purposely get kicked out such as riding tricycles through the aisles, squirting soaps and shampoos on the floor and sliding, and put randomly awkward things into other people’s carts. I love to play around and pretend that I am a kid. It keeps me youthful and happy. I like to party with people, and I love to be the center of attention. Most people know my name, but they do not know me personally. This is because people tell stories about my past experiences, and they will one day make me a…

A little girl was having fun on the playground she rode down the bright yellow slide, and as her feet hit the floor, light-up shoes blinked shades of pink and blue. She laughed with her friends uncontrollably. I watched her every day through my window as I was stuck in my hospital bed forbidden to go play with the other kids. I was in preschool; I couldn’t skip and laugh and play with the others because I was born with a disease called Congenital Ocular Dystopia from Orbito Frontal Bone Dysplasia, which means I was missing bones behind my eyes to keep my eye sockets in place. I also had distorted facial bones and visual acuity issues, and no one knew why. I’m the first documented case out of four in the world. Being patient zero comes with its struggles, but it has taught me so much and has led to an astronomical amount of progression and personal growth. In conclusion, even though I spent years dealing with the stale air in the children's craniofacial wing, lying on uncomfortable paper hospital beds, and watching other little…

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “To be yourself in a world that is trying to make you something else is a great accomplishment”. A question such as “who am I”? Really gives me the opportunity to differentiate and express who I really am and who I can be. I am not a complex person who thinks the world is against me, nor am I overly sophisticated “know-it-all” who doesn't take time to pay attention to my surroundings. I can't say that I am like every other person because there are certain things that make me a unique individual. What I can say is that I am progressing towards a brighter future.…

The recreational and leisure activities that I enjoy mostly involve being outside. My friends and family can always count on me to be up for exploring and usually regret asking me because I could hike for hours! I love being outdoors and enjoy a wide variety of individual and team sports throughout the seasons. Kayaking, running, paddle boarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sand volleyball are just the beginning of my long list of activities I enjoy to participate in. Aside from the outdoors, I am an adventurous cook and make recipes of all styles.…
