This I believe Essay

2nd Period 4/13/2012

Karma Strikes and Miracles Rescue

I have many beliefs— having fun, changing lives, laughing, or just simply smiling to others. But those are all small beliefs that we all have. But my belief is stopped short when it comes to karma.

It was a tremendous spring break; beautiful flowers I have never seen before blooming outside the side window of the church. Who would have known karma could strike on an amazing spring day. I was sitting in the pews lost in thought that I didn’t even know that the preacher asked me a question. I looked up to see what he wanted. When I didn’t answer he just turned and begins preaching about daily sins, and karma. When I look to my right, Ancelinna was trying to conceal her smile while mom was throwing spears at me with her eyes; knowing I was going to get a stupid lecture about paying attention after mass.

What does she expect from a five year old? To listen? No way! Anyway, as I turned my attention back to the preacher he was still talking about the same thing, repeating karma over and over. As soon as mass was over, Ancelinna and I walked to the side of the church where rocks, flowers, and sand laid. No one is allowed there due to the rock sliding of huge rocks the size of a cow.

As we both climb over the fence, barking dogs approach the other end where we just climbed from. Ancelinna and I ran until we reached the ladder top to the balcony of the church side. I jumped onto the small balcony helping Ancelinna up. Thankfully we haven’t got caught or we would have gotten the spanking of our lives. We high fived each other and decided to fool around.

We grabbed three huge rocks and chucked it at the pigs’ heads, which were sitting by the beach shore. We laughed stirring up trouble as usual. We stayed up there for about an hour playing truth or dare. It was now my turn to be dared. Ancelinna

The audience gains a greater understanding and appreciation of the consequences and societal issues presented through the author’s texts of changing perspectives. This greater understanding is represented by a wide range of language techniques showing the quality of a change of perspective in life. In the short story ‘Forgotten Jelly’ by Megan Jacobson, it demonstrates how an individual understands the consequences and issues while time progresses, which in turn leads to a change of perspective. Likewise, in the poem ‘Mending Wall’ by Robert Frost, we observe how, as the characters develop, they understand and gradually learn more about the perspective of others and eventually leading to a change of their previous views.…

Rodger and Petey came stumbling through the door pushing me aside and quickly slamming the door shut. “Help us!” screamed Petey. “With what?” I replied. Petey seemed winded for some reason, he was trying to get every ounce of oxygen that he possibly could. When he finally mustered up enough air to speak, the floor began to shake, the ceiling fan started rocking back and forth, the fire in the fireplace was stopped in its place, and the T.V dove into the ground. Rodger began to sweat and scurried under the dinner table. Still unaware of what was happening I yelled, “What is going on?” The house repeated its former action and shook again, this time the pots and pans crashed into the floorboards. Getting nothing from the other pigs I rushed to the window to see what was happening. As I peered out of the window I saw the villainous wolf.…

It was a chilly day on March 6, 2007. Me and my family were on 495 going to the Holy Cross Hospital with a slight delay of traffic. For some reason, I kept fiddling with my fingers, I was really nervous to see him. We took the exit 31A and we all shifted to the left since it was a sharp turn to the right. My big sister, Maisie, was on my shoulder and we shifted her head fell on my lap. She woke up and asked where we were. “We are almost there Maisie” my Dad said. We stopped at the traffic light and I fiddled with my fingers some more. “Stop fiddling with your fingers!” Maisie whispered to me. In my head, I say “I can’t, he is the first boy of the family, the first! Besides me!” I stopped fiddling and looked at the huge structure in front of me, The Holy Cross Hospital.…

All things considered, two months later, it’s summer now and i’m living at my dad’s house. My dad’s house was a medium sized, brown and white, oldish-styled town home. I never really had a great relationship with my dad, so it was sort’ve a punishment. I couldn’t be at my mom’s house at the time because i’d get into trouble and wouldn’t obey the rules. Living at my dad’s brought me closer to my grandpa and grandma. They were practically my neighbors at this point, which was a good thing. They’d stop by once in a while and see how im holding up. In a way, they’d keep me on the right path; Gods path. Although, i still wasn’t going to church, still felt the…

Society often expects certain type of behavior from everyone. But in the big picture, this behavior is only based on what type of sex you are and what your responsibility according to your sex. Before I could enter the fifth grade room, my teacher, Mrs. Martin, pulled me aside. She informed me that my sister had overheated in her robe and passed out. She then explained that her consciousness was quickly regained and that she went home with my mom. I felt a wave a relief rush over me. Mrs. Martin started faintly giggling. I was insulted, how could she be laughing in a time like this? She then addressed the baffled look on my face by telling me that when my sister had awakened, she was genuinely flustered. She looked around, confused as to where she was and when the teachers told her what happened, she looked relieved. The then responded by telling them that she thought she died. She followed that statement up with “it would’ve been okay if I had died though, because then maybe God would have confused me with a saint and let me into…

I can never forget November 15, 2006. As I close my eyes and take a deep breath my memory paints the blues, browns, greens, and every other color associated with the horrible recollection. It was around 10:45 a.m., and the house smelled of pine-sol and gain washing powder. My mother was up and about cleaning. I was still sandwiched in between the covers and my bed although the sun smiled as it peeked through my window. The phone sang its song frantically until my mother said “Hello“. From my room, I could hear my mother gasp for breath in the living room. I dashed to the living room to find my mother sobbing deeply. The angels had decided to recruit my grandmother as a member of their team. On her way home the night before while the stars shined their brightest, her red two door car was demolished by the large silver monster call the side rails.…
