Thomas In The Maze Runner
Besides a great deal of running everyday and continuous whining aside, Thomas from The Maze Runner by James Dashner and I share many more traits and parallels. From our bravery, to loyalty and hard work, Thomas is a literary character that is most like me. For starters, The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a wonderful novel about a bunch of teenage boys stuck in a giant maze that closes and rearranges itself at night, and occasionally one finds gigantic metal creatures with spikes that like to kill little boys. Thomas is brought to this maze in an iron box and instantly begins to adapt to the situation and grow courage. This summer, I was forced to go to a peculiar summer camp in the middle of nowhere, but found myself accepting the situation and attempting to move forward like Thomas. I believe I am personally made with the same adaptation skills. I made an effort to smile and make friends, with some courage. Within the first day, Thomas grows adapted to his environment, doing things other people would never have thought of doing in the situation. He knows he is destined to lead as a maze …show more content…
Whether we are saving people from being eaten by giant monsters, or standing up for them, we always have ours friends back. When I was around three or four, I got into an elevator with my grandmother. Another woman got in and made some type of mean remark to her. I stomped my tiny foot and yelled, “Don’t you dare speak to my Grandma like that!” Of course, I also stick by my friend’s side and never say anything rude about them behind their backs and speak up when someone is. Thomas, however, sees one of his friends passing out in the maze as the doors close and he runs in desperately to defend him from the monsters and help him with his wounds. I mentally care for my friends wounds, by giving them advice and truly caring about what they have to say at all times. Thomas reflects this through his dedication to his dying friend,

A character in the novel I extremely admired was Thomas, the main character. i admired him because he was brave the whole way throughout the novel. I also think that Dashner was trying to get across to the reader the theme of bravery. In our story, bravery was something that the characters really needed in order to live the way they wanted. At numerous times in the book Thomas must call on his own will to overcome a frightening situation. “Two nurses- man and woman- were dragging a girl with brown hair down the hallways, and she was kicking and screaming the whole way. It was her.…

Throughout the novel, Thomas demonstrates his heroism through instances that illustrate his curiosity. He does not understand the Gladers way of life, or even why they ended up in a mysterious world called the Glade. “Strangely enough, he felt his fear whisked away like a swarm of gnats, caught in the wind, replaced by an intense curiosity. He wanted to know where he was and what was happening.” (Dashner 2). This quote shows that Thomas is curious because he wakes up in an elevator and has a very vague memory of his former life. He wonders how he got to…

It takes something very immense to show who your real friends are. It could range from a moment of drama where a friend stays by your side, to sitting bed side by your friend in critical conditions. I learned how to be the person who shows their true side in these situations. By doing so, I have been brought closer to many people who will now return the favor when my time of need comes. Always remember to ask the question, “Who will be there for me?” when you pick friends to bring into your circle.…

From the beginning of the book, Thomas was always courageous. Even though he lost his memory and did not know where he was, he did not break down, and he tried to adapt with the new environment. His first heroic act happened when he ran out of the Glade into the Maze to save Minho and the injured Alby, when they could not come back to the Glade before the Doors closed. Knowing that he had to stay in the Maze the whole night to fight against the Grievers, they were deadly mechanical monsters that came out at night to kill humans, Thomas was not concerned about his own safety. When Minho abandoned Thomas and Alby, instead of fleeing to save himself and leave Alby behind, Thomas pulled Alby off the ground and wrapped him with vines, to keep him away from the Grievers. Not only did Thomas help Alby get out of harm way, he ran the opposite way to distract the Grievers from finding Alby’s hiding spot. Thomas bravely fought the Grievers and tricked them to roll off the cliff.…
