Others are blessed with finding out what gives them meaning and purpose early on in life while some only find a purpose later on in life. Three ways that people find meaning in their life are, through family, their job, or by helping others. The first way that people find meaning in their life is through family. For some it is getting married and raising kids with their spouse for others it is taking care of another family member. Raising a family is no small task. Social workers are able to help struggling families get to a better place were the family is more stable and they are no longer at the risk of going into poverty. Social workers are also able to get children out of abusive situations and into a far more caring environment where the children are safe from harm. This does not mean that one has to raise a family, or become a teacher it means that one needs to go out in their community and help those who need it through volunteering or being helpful to others near them. Volunteering at a soup kitchen is a great way to go out and help those who truly need it. Many people do not know where their next meal will come from and soup kitchens help those people by offering them the food that they need to live. Picking up trash or volunteering at an animal shelter are ways that a person can help their community without helping people directly. Cleaning up the environment makes a community a nice place to live by giving plant life more room to grow and prevents wild life from chocking on pieces of plastic. Volunteering at an animal shelter helps abused or abandoned animals find a new family or helps them trust in humans again. By helping these animals become adoptable and later adopted can bring a smile to a young child’s face when he or she sees his or hers new furry best
