This book has an almost unique perspective on the events. It contradicts both Western Media portrayal of the incident, which sides with the protestors and often refers to them as rioters, says that their provocations have directly lead to casualties and if the protest was conducted more peacefully the bloodshed could be avoided. At the same time actions of the government are condemned as it is acknowledged that rush in which the square was ordered to be cleared could have potentially provoked the students to violence on military that has kick started the shooting. Ultimately Zengchao sides with the military, they are portrayed as heroes who did their best in a compromising position – stuck between violence of the protestors that they couldn 't back down from due to orders from above. What it ultimately means it is one of very few sources that gives accurate account on actions of the protestors

Protestors have dared to set barricades ad act as they did only in complete confidence that army will be acting peacefully. However an additional factor came in due to confusion, officers prioritised meeting deadlines over acting slowly and nonviolently. The fire has been open in order to reach targets in time and later has been opened repeatedly to

speed up the dispersion of the masses. The violence in the Tiananmen Square was largely

Fed up by the oppression that the Chinese government showed its citizens, a man decided he has going to stand up and show everyone else not to be afraid to stand up to the Chinese government. He did this without wanting anything out of it except to better other people. “In an act of nonviolent protest, the man, who to this day remains unidentified, calmly walked in front of the procession of tanks” (Storm). With what looked like a normal day while walking to work, the man, with suitcase in hand, walked across the road and stopped in the middle to block the row of tanks from moving forward to suppress protesters. Thousands of protesters marched towards the parliament because, opposition leaders accused pro-government factions of a constitutional reform that would limit presidential powers, a key opposition demand. Police stormed walls set up by anti-government protesters at the capital's Independence Square and were met with Molotov cocktails (which are like alcohol in a body and stick a sock or something and lite it on fire). Police had to block off streets and subways to get towards the cops. Police were using stun grenades and water cannons moved into Independence Square, which has been the Centre of nearly three months of protests, and dismantled some of the barricades. 20,000 protestors fought back, using rocks, bats and fire bombs. They also were singing the Ukrainian national anthem as the main protest camp was overcome in flames. The building of trade unions that served as a base for the protesters for the past two months also caught fire.…
