My personal ethics has developed over many years. My personal ethics has been built on personal trials/tribulations, outcomes and personal thoughts. While tribulations have made my life harder it has also helped make sure I have stuck by my personal ethics.
Personal Ethics Development
Personal ethics can be defined as ones values, beliefs, morals and are derived from ones up-bringing, family values, customs and beliefs. Through this paper, I will discuss my personal guidelines and ethical development that examines my system of ethics and the origins of development. I will explain what my values consist of and what sources help to influences and shape my values. I will touch on what effect ethics has on my work performance and provide a personal experience to support it. Finally, I will discuss why ethics is important to an organizations goal, individual’s lifestyle, and society.
Ethics can be personal or business based. First, ethics can be referred to standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues. An example of this is the standards that impose the reasonable obligations to refrain from rape, stealing, murder, assault, slander, and fraud. Ethical standards also include the virtues of honesty, compassion, and loyalty. And, ethical standards include standards relating to rights, such as the right to life, the right to freedom from injury, and the right to privacy. Such standards are adequate standards of ethics because they are supported by consistent and well-founded reasons. Secondly, ethics refers to the study and development of one's ethical standards. As mentioned above, feelings, laws, and social norms can deviate from what is ethical. So it is necessary to constantly examine one's standards to ensure that they are reasonable and well-founded.
