Titanic: Prejudice Approach To Different Social Classes

Classism is described as a negative or prejudice approach to the different social classes. It has created a great division in today’s time by separating people by their race, gender, class, age, or other characteristics. In my opinion classism does not have to do with the person, but more of the social class that you were born into. Anyone has the ability to change where they want to end up in life and can change their level of class ranking.
There are three forms of classism, which is cultural, individual, and institutional. Cultural classism is where it refers to the ways in which classism is manifest through our cultural norms and practices. Individual classism is where it refers to classism on a personal or individual level, either in behavior or attitudes, either conscious and intentional or unconscious and unintentional. While institutional classism is where it refers to the ways in which conscious or unconscious classism is manifest in the various institutions of our society.
This is when a person's life and their social class intervenes and can cause problems. Other examples of individual classism would be make jokes or label the poor. Treating people differently because of how they dress or where they work is also an example. The movie Titanic would also be a good individual classism example because the poor people were not allowed to get on to the safety boats until the wealthy people were. In the movie The Devil Wears Prada a young girl got a job with a magazine company and she is treated differently because her clothes do not match that day’s
