The Department of Communication celebrates another successful year of “Gawad Miriam Para Sa Komunikasyon 2014” on August 18, 2014 at Paz Adriano Little Theater. The theme is “Kwento ng Isang Matagumpay na Kabataan” that celebrates not only those students who excel academically & in co-curricular activities and awarding of Dean’s Listers, but it's also a throwback of what are the CommSoc last year’s activities.
The program are opened by Ms. Jem Aguilar and Ms. Iris Keza who talk about last year’s Communication activities like GMAlearniversity with guest speaker, Ms. Kara David, MYX forum and Pepito Manalotour. They also talked about the students who excel academically then and now like the awardees for best in thesis. They also discussed about the last year’s activities such as: Team Building Seminar (TBS) in Tanay Bakasyunan Resort, Bidyofest winner "Malikmata" and the people who won last year’s raffle. They also talked about how great the communication professors are.
Award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Mr. Robert Magnuson inspired the Communication Arts students with his life story since he was still a kid, up until he graduated in Miriam College, until to his present life. He read one of his children’s book entitled “Porcupirate plans the day” in which he wrote this story while his father is going through two weeks of hospitalization and his brothers had left abroad with their families and he’s the one left to take care of his dad.
“In conclusion, where do our stories come from?” he said after reading his story. He said that, we all have stories to tell, it may be a story of our self, or other people’s life. But try to think this, where did all these came from?
“The simple answer is they’re everywhere, if you can’t see them you just need to slow down and look around” that’s how he ended his speech.
