Abstract
“Tom I am so hungry, I could eat a horse! Me too!” replied his little brother Chris.
What is the motivation behind the children’s remark? What is there incentive? It is simple hunger is there motivation, while food is the incentive. However, could it be more such as biological factors that correlates with the source of motivation? Have you ever thought about why we do the things we do and what drives us to do them? There are many theories and concepts behind motivation. First, we must define motivation. Identify a few sources behind motivation by explaining the relationship between motivation and behavior. As well as examining, how behavior exhibits motivation in order to gain a better understanding of this term.
What is motivation? According to the Webster Dictionary, “Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way: escape can be a strong motivation for travel: the general desire or willingness of someone to do something: keep staff up to date and maintain interest and motivation”. Furthermore, motivation is much more it involves knowledge to perform the task and the competence to see it through. On the other hand, if an individual lacks the motivation then the knowledge and competence are useless. Nevertheless, there is more to motivation than the dictionary definition. Motivation can consist of many factors such as ones environment, internal and external sources, emotions and biological.
For example, in the opening paragraph the children made comments about their hunger. Their motives are hunger, yet there is one more factor the children’s biological needs for substance. Eating satisfies hunger. While food is, still the incentive motives like biological needs act like push motivation while external incentives and goals act like pull motivation. The
