To Kill A Mockingbird Creative Writing
I zigzag around the forest edge, catching a final glimpse of the sunset over the mountain before racing into the shadows. Freezing air whistles by, but there’s too much warmth within me to be cold today.
I hear a familiar laugh and swerve out of the way to see Emma glide by me. She flies past gracefully, a hummingbird among the hibernating woodlands. She laughs again as I dance around trees, leaving a pattern of curves behind me. With Emma by my side and skis on my feet, there is nowhere I would rather be.
We zip through three more runs before the sun dips down below the mountain, cowering behind its colossal form. “Just once more?” Emma asks, grinning. Her words mirror my thoughts.
It can be dangerous to ski after sunset, but she knows

The slight tremor under my feet is enough to abandon my few doubts. It’s an avalanche. The snow has transformed from a soft creature to a raging beast, intent on tearing us apart.
Adrenaline powers my body, but fear sabotages my actions. I look up as Emma calls out and see her face contort in terror as she speeds towards me. Her panic only aggravates my own fear.
The earth trembles and shakes but not nearly as much as I do. Emma stops beside me and shouts words I can’t decipher. I glance up just in time to see the avalanche looming before us. I barely have time to marvel at the creature, a whirlwind of ice and snow, before it has devoured me and I am swept away.

White sheets and florescent lights greet me as I wake up. My mother’s eyes look like waning twin moons underlined with dark shadows. I look around and see plain white walls, a metal table, and a sink. The room has an industrial feel to it and the strong scent of disinfectant wafts under my nose.
My mother’s voice is so faint, I can hardly hear.
“Emma?” I ask, afraid of what she might say.
She looks surprised. “What about her?”
“She’s . . . okay? She . . . she’s not—”
“What? Of course she’s okay! She’s fine. I. . .

In her 20th century short story “And of Clay Are We Created,” Isabel Allende personifies the volcanic eruption as a destructive opponent, focused on wrecking havoc and devastation. The poor victim, Azucena must endure a relentless attack from the nature beast and she will be the victim of the destructive creature. Allende states “the mountain had awakened again”(Allende 26). The author invokes the daily action of wakening in order to announce the start of the monster’s day and the beginning of his evil path. Subsequently, a newly aroused creature that seems ready to strike threatens Azucena’s life. In addition, Isabel Allende explains, “when a prolonged roar announced the end of the world, and walls of snow broke loose, rolling in an avalanche…

Fear was everywhere. Above him... around him... inside him. He smelled his sweat, and the dirtiness of his skin. The sand was hot, the air stood still. Everything seemed to be covered with a veil of silk. Ralph closed his eyes. The voices came nearer and nearer, as he heard their singing, "Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!" Ralph shivered as if he had been touched by a cold hand, a dead hand. He wasn't able to do anything but wait... wait for the things which will come.…

The wind screamed in vain as rain plummeted down like bullets, spitting violently into the ground. Dark, ominous clouds loomed heavily above as a lightning bolt ripped across the inky sky, announcing the arrival of an unforgiving storm that lay ahead. This was also the arrival of something else., a massacre of white figures loomed hungrily on the cold horizon. The ground grumbled as they approached closer…and closer……

“What is that?” yelled out the guards. A massive cloud of smoke fluctuated towards us, and as it did the Earth started rumbling beneath our feet like drumsticks to a drum. Everyone fluttered around the cities yelling and screaming but clumsily fell to the ground due to the Earth’s movement.…

Gripping tightly onto Elizabeth I bow my head over hers, providing as much coverage as possible. No matter how small it may be. I can feel the thump of the horse’s hooves hitting the ground, running through my chest. Feeling as if everything is in slow motion as the bridge looms in front of us. Growls and grunts echoing all around as thousands of zombies follow in our wake.…

I’m contemplating the fact that we are doomed for how could we ever outrun and escape this horrendous beast when suddenly, I hear what sounds like gunshots which are then followed by utter silence. Maybe I am imagining it, maybe the grit managed to get us and the silence is alerting me that I have simply ceased to exist but then…I see…

Ferociously, the wind tears at the great dunes with its vicissitudinous talons, raising beige apparitions from the earth. A tyrannical ball of fire rises from beyond the horizon and the thin, misty clouds, melting away the last vestiges of the darkness from before and showering its radiant blankets upon everything underneath. From below the uppermost layer of sand pokes the skeleton of a dead thing, long sapped of its life force, doomed to remain an eerie relic of what once was.…

I am stolen from my reverie by crunches on crystallised slush, over yonder by the remaining entrance to the abbey's structure. Stepping forward, my dark-rimmed eyes seeking for any sign of animation, I stumble, my foot had caught on the mossy head of a ragged stone, casting me heavily upon the frosted ink of the ground. Groaning in a paroxysm of fury, I thrust by boot upon the stone, with such a passionate force, as to crack it in two. Cursing vehemently, and requesting my heart to recommence a steady beat, I hitched my breath and sat upright, my frost-bitten fingertips cast into the snow. My fingers found a second set, attached to a delicate hand as icy as the kiss of death! An acute convulsion of nightmarish terror tore through my chest, and I was petrified to my position. A most wistful voice cried, "You vowed you cared nothing of my miseries! A liar through and through! You bid me haunt you in a fervent rage, and yet you pray with a cursed tongue to be rid of me!" Forcefully, I snatched my hands from the creature's grasp and thrust them upon my ears, so as to banish such horror-inducing…

Straining, my eyes scanned the surroundings looking for a shape or shadow in the blinding whiteness. The trees are all white too, like giant monster blobs with only a touch of green color coming through the deep snow. Time seems to be frozen, along with my feet, in the blizzard of white and wind. I can't tell I'm moving or standing completely still.…

Suddenly, his mouth opens and you see his teeth, like knife points. He tips his head back to let out a spine-tingling howl. You stay, frozen by his voice, yet still not afraid of the predator in front of you. The sound of thunder rings out and he yelps, falling to the ground. All is silent, even the wind. Crimson coats the stiff powder and you are in disbelief. Two men step from their hiding spots, looking like abominable snowmen in their white, puffy suits. One nods to you, as if he is some kind of savior, but you ponder to yourself, questioning: which creature really needs a savior?…

The boulder I am standing on is slippery with fresh morning dew. There is not one person in sight. I see a small stream trickling down the hillside as if it were for the first time. Orange silk blankets the sky; the sun is rising! I can see creatures appearing from their slumber. The trees trun in to a girls best friend as the branches sway and the golden leaves sparkle in the sunlight. There is a quiet rustling sound. I look over and see an innocent rabbit nibbling on some shrubbery. I wonder, is he also warming up in the beams? A shudder of fright jolts through me as I hear the magnificent scream of a mountain lion. The rabbit darts away in fright. I hear a melody of the mockingbird's song setting the mood for today.…
