To Kill A Mockingbird Movie Vs Book Report
Personally if I read a book first and then watch the movie, the movie never lives up to the book. With this book To kill a Mockingbird I liked it better than the movie. The movie left out things I found very important in the book, along with other minor details.
One thing the movie changed and left out was the way Jem and Scout got their gifts from Boo Radley. In the book Scout is the one who finds the first gift from Boo in the old oak tree in front of the Radley house. The first thing she finds is two pieces of bubblegum. The next day Scout is walking home with Jem, and they see a ring box holding two indian head pennies from 1900 and 1906, indian head pennies are considered to be good luck. The two of them found many other treasures in that old oak tree, such as a gray ball of twine, two images carved into

Maudie's house burned down which I found fairly important. In the book her house burned down because she was trying to keep her home warm during the night because they were experiencing a fairly harsh winter for them. Their winter consisted of snow for the first time in several years. Which Mr. Avery blames on the children by saying “When children disobeyed their parents… the season would change in Maycomb County” (Lee Chapter 8). If it wasn’t for the fire Boo never would’ve left his house to cover Scout with a blanket. Even though the kids didn’t get to see Boo I think this an important part of the book because he does leave the house. In fact their isn’t any snow in Maycomb county during the movie which would have caused people to heat their homes and Mrs. Maudie's house to burn down.
A minor thing that was changed was Mrs. Maudie was the first person to tell the kids that it's a sin to kill a mockingbird, in the movie they change it to where Atticus tells them. The kids also never get guns for christmas which in the book is why Mrs. Maudie told them to shoot bluejays all they wanted and not

In the book ‘To Kill a Mockingbird” by “Harper Lee” there were many characters that the movie that was released shortly the book was published and became a best seller. After reading the book, and then watching the movie, I have made some observations on what characters were not mentioned or described in the movie and what bits and plots were not there. To start off with characters, I noticed that there were to characters that were dropped from the book and were not included in the movie remake. There was Uncle Jack and Dolphus Raymond. There are many scenes that I realize are missing in the movie remake of the book “ To Kill a Mockingbird”. For starters, I realize that you never see scouts teacher Mrs. Caroline. In chapter 2 in the novel, you are introduced to Mrs. Caroline and the Cunningham family when scout had to explain to Mrs. Caroline about Walter. Mrs. Caroline asked if Walter Cunningham wanted money for lunch because he had none and Scout was the only student that could explain how the Cunningham family doesn’t borrow or take money from any family or person.…

Another thing that was the same with the book and movie was how the children were fascinated with Arthur Radley (Boo), and how Boo was fascinated with the children. Boo would leave the children gifts such as dolls, a watch, and gum in the tree in his yard. This fascination between the…

In most cases when there are two versions of something we can find differences and similarities, such as when a book is made into a movie. An example of this is the book To Kill A Mockingbird which was made into a movie, these two versions are very different but portray the same story. The movie does a good job in presenting the main points of the book but overall the film and the novel are dissimilar more than they are alike. The three main differences are the alterations of major scenes, the absence of characters and the lack of details illustrated in the book.…

When Gene and Finny go to the tree one of the times Gene slips and Finny saves him. This happens only in the movie. The book did not say anything about a rope being on the tree. In the movie when Gene shakes the limb of the tree causing Finny to fall, there was no one at the tree. In the book Leper and Brinker were standing there. The movie also started in a flashback to the trial, whereas in the book it started off as him being in his current time. The book was told in first person and the movie was narrated in third person. I felt the book brought you closer to what Gene was thinking. Another difference would be Gene going and talking to Leper. In the book Leper goes home and in the movie he goes to the woods of…

In the movie, it was Grants idea to have Jefferson in the day room and have the children from the school visit him for the last time. The children gave him gifts and some even gave Jefferson hugs. Miss Emma cried while witnessing all of that happening. In the book, it was Miss Emma's idea to bring Jefferson into the day room.…

These two ways were some of the many ways that I notice the book and the movie were different. Mrs. Dubose seemed to show Atticus’s side of punishment, but it does not really show Mrs. Dubose in the movie. Also with telling the book from Scout’s point of view compared to telling from Jem’s point of view in the movie. These were some of the biggest differences that was able to notice between the movie and the…

I can’t say I’m astonished by the State Board of Education’s decision to ban “To Kill a Mockingbird”. After all, what can you expect from such short-minded people? Such people that regrettably are put in the position to judge what books are moral and fit to be read by young adults. Is it the book’s display of what really happens in the world, or the book’s lessons of protecting innocence and standing up for what you see as right, that makes this book so disgraceful, that we must shelter young minds from?…

Creating a motion picture from a novel and conveying the author's intended message is a difficult task. Some film makers gracefully meet the challenge, while others fail, warping the original meaning of the novel in order to appeal to he general movie going population. Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird novel to movie transition is a mid-ground between the two extremes. Lee's theme of tolerance is neither completely destroyed nor completely expressed. The absence of characters Dolphus Raymond and Link Deas, along with the change in Dill's personality in the movie contributes to the deterioration of Lee's original theme of tolerance.…

To Kill A Mockingbird has a novel and a film. The novel may have many similarities to the film, the film might be a little different, but this is what they share in similarities. In the novel and the film they both have Scout as the narrator, and it is being told from Scout’s point of view. When Atticus shot the mad dog, that was in the novel as well as the film. In the novel Boo Radley left gifts in the hole in the tree, and when his brother found out, he filled the hole with cement. In the film there was a visual of what the gifts from Boo Radley looked like, and how his brother filled the hole with cement. The themes were similar, the theme of racism, family, and maturing was given in…

Moreover, the book and film are different because of the way you picture what is going on. In the book, the setting is described in a way that is slightly different from what you see in the movie. For example, in the book, page 8, paragraph 1, it saids “Miss Rachel's rat terrier was expecting-instead we found someone sitting looking at us”. In the book, it doesn’t mention what it was like around them. In the movie, it showed it was sunny. The book mention that there was a wired fence in between the boy and jem but in the movie, it showed that it was only a…

It also shows the divide between the children. Jem is starting to grow up, and beginning to understand who is leaving the gifts, whereas Scout is still young and she still sees things in a child-like manner, and does not understand that the stories might not be true, and that Boo could be a kind, caring person despite the myths and stories which are…

Some of the non important differences are fictional things that are thrown into the story: like talking trees and unrealistic animals. These things don't matter because they are obviously incorrect. Some of the major differences seen are pocahontas’s age, the love story, and the capture and rescue of John Smith. In the movie Pocahontas is portrayed as a beautiful graceful woman, but in historically she was only ten years old so there was no way a relationship was even possible. Both times John Smith is Captured and saved, but they aren't for the same reasons. His rescuer in the movie and in real life was Pocahontas. One rescue was for love, while the other was done for…

There were a lot of edits in this movie. There were small things like how in the movie Katniss actually hits Marvel in the throat when she kills him and not the chest. The first thing I noticed was that the book was being told from Katniss’s perspective, while the movie was told from many different perspectives. Also, in the book the Mocking Jay pin was given to Katniss by Madge before she went to the capital, and then Katniss gave the Mocking Jay pin to Prim. In the movie Katniss got the Mocking Jay pin from the black market, and then gives the Mocking Jay pin to Prim. Another thing I noticed was that Madge, the girl that gave Katniss the Mocking Jay pin, isn’t in the movie.…
