people pointing and laughing. I screamed for help, and then all was silent. I woke up with a not so friendly surprise, a meeting with the cold hard ground. I thought back to the dream, and how now I am stuck in this terrible world of giants. To make matters worse, in this city is the terrifying amounts of people, and the air is putrid. I want to be back with scout in the free land, but even Scout left to live on a farm. “Miyu,” my dad called me from down the carpeted stairs of our new home. “You need to get up, or you will be late for the first day of school. Also breakfast is ready” I stood up, only motivated to get breakfast. I dug through my suite case to find my grey hoodie and jean skirt so I could quickly change out of my kitten pajamas. I put my brown hair into a quick, neat braid, and pulled my hoodie over my head. After that I brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs. I sat down at the table with a grumble or two.
“Good morning to you too,” dad laughed, “your clothes look very nice. You look a ton like your mother. You have her purple eyes and her face…” I glared at him angrily,” Dad she is never coming back home. I don’t care if I look like her or not, she abandoned us. “I sipped my orange juice, and took a bite of toast. My dad looked a little upset. “Well are you ready for your first day of school?” He asked, trying to mask up his sadness. “No, why do I have to go to school? There are too many people, can’t you home school me like you use to?” I commented sourly. “Sorry Miyu, I can’t. You will be fine, I promise. Honestly this can help with your social issues as well.” I looked down at my food, and decided to just eat the toast. “I’ll see you when I get home, then, dad. “ I mumbled grabbing my backpack, and my lunch box. “I love you princess,” he hugged me, and I stomped out the
door. I finally made it to River City High school, and it was kind of boring at first. The principle wouldn’t stop talking about the school. Mr. Principle explained how the teachers switch classes and not the students. Also he ranted on rules and how my hood shouldn’t be up. Then he brought me to my home room after his dreadful speech. The teacher of the class room nodded when we entered. “So you are the new student why don’t you introduce yourself.” She smiled softly, and I was surprised she was so kind. I turned to face the class, and I froze up. “M-my name is Miyu,” I mumbled and some kids started laughing. A boy with blonde hair and green eyes stood up. “You guys need to shut up, “he frowned, and to my surprise they all listened. I moved to the back of the classroom to the only seat, which happened to be next to him. “It is nice to meet you Miyu,” he smiled and I stayed quite. What is with this guy? Why is he being so nice to me? “Your eyes are so cool. Oh sorry, that must have been rude. I am Ciro.” I nodded a bit embarrassed, and then the teacher started class. Hours later it was lunch time, I got up out of my seat to head to the cafeteria. “Hey Miyu,” Ciro tapped my shoulder. “Do you want to come eat lunch with me? “ I didn’t want to be rude so I nodded. “Great, “he smiled “follow me, I don’t think you would want to eat at the cafeteria. You seem a little shy. “He led me up to the top of the building, and opened the door to the roof. “ I stepped out and gazed to the sky with a smile. One thing that never changes is the sky no matter where you are. “That’s the first time you’ve smiled today,” Ciro smiled. I looked surprised that he noticed. Just then another person entered the roof; it was a brown hair boy. “This is Jay, he is also in our class. “ Ciro introduced him to me. “Hey how’s it going?” Jay looked kind of bored. I stayed quite for most of lunch, but by the end I started to talk a little. It was pretty enjoyable, mind I say. The bell rang, and the three of us headed back to class with smiles on our faces. “m-may I sit with you guys again?” I mumbled, and Jay immediately answered “of course Miyu.” The rest of the day seemed to fly by. Ciro and Jay both had after school activities, so I began to walk home. Then I was stopped by a group of girls, they all had a very scary look on their faces. The one that looked the meanest was the girl who stepped out in front of the rest; I assume from the books I read she is the ring leader. She pushed me down to the hard hot concrete. “You need to stay away from those two guys in our class. They are popular, and don’t need you around. Go by them again and you will end up with bruises. “I got up and ran home as fast as I could. When I got behind the door of my house I called for my dad, but he wasn’t home. I decided to start cooking dinner, but he didn’t get home til late. When he asked about my day, I told him the good parts. Then I went to bed for the night. The next day I didn’t get up, and told my dad I was sick. When he left for work I went out to the city park, and sat up in a tree. I sat there for hours, and observed the occasional passersby. Then I saw a group of dogs surrounding a cat, and attacking it. I swung down from the tree, and ran to help the cat. The dogs got scared and ran away. The poor mangy stray looked at me gratefully. I picked the kitty cat up and brought it home. My dad was a little upset when he got home to see a kitten inside the house. I explained what happened, and told him I decided to go out for air when I felt better. He accepted it, and went to get supplies for the kitten. I named the kitten Kira, because I thought it sounded nice. Later I went to bed. I woke up the next day, and decided I needed to be brave. When I went to school the girls were waiting for me. The ring leader led me to the class, and told me to apologies to the whole class. I stayed quiet and she grabbed my braid hard. Again she told me to apologies. “I don’t have to! I haven’t done anything wrong, “I cried slightly. Then Jay stepped out and pulled the girl away from me. “I am going to report you to the teacher for bullying, “he told her sternly. Other members of the class also chimed in with words like “you shouldn’t do that to your class mate”. I was smiling a little even though I was crying. Most people aren’t so bad you know. The rest of the week went a lot better. I started to adjust to the class, and the people didn’t scare me a lot. The ring leader girl was expelled because she has bullied multiple people before. Also people started talking to me in my class. Most importantly I was able to hang out with Ciro and Jay during lunch. We started becoming better friends, and Ciro told me he has a crush on me. I do like him in that way as well. The kitten is doing better, and my dad has been getting out of work around when I get out of school, which is nice. Everything seems so perfect with the world. All it took was for me to do something I use to think was unthinkable. Just like I thought talking to others besides my father was impossible. All I had to do was to be brave, and now I know I can be brave.
