Today's Society
Illustrate the society today and then the society in the future based on your assessment of today’s society.

Our society today is fairly peaceful and the daily activities of the people have not changed much. Every day we see people in the street going everywhere. There are so many jeepneys, busses, cars and all kinds of transportation crowding the road; many tricycles are adding to the traffic problems of the commuters.

In the early morning, parents are busy preparing themselves and their children for work and school. The streets are filled with people waiting for their means of transportation in going to their place of work. This is a daily chore that we see happening in every home or our society to.

In bad times, when there are typhoons which occur meany times a year, we can see that the natural spirit of cooperation among Filipinos became more evident. The typhoons brings more rains then flood, destroying houses, plants, animals and crops resulting in food shortage.

On television, I saw the destruction of lives and property it was sad and truly hurting but avoid the ruins, the beautiful character of the Filipinos inspired me to hope for a bright future for our society.

The cooperation, working together helping one another, the resiliency patience and courage shown by all the people was a display of a Filipino heroism. In time of trouble, we can depend on one another to survive any or deal.

There are many typhoons in the Philippines every year. This year I witnessed how the people in Bulacan endured the destruction of home and property, even lives. The people bravely faced the sad experience and strive to story alive with only faith in God. The signing of Peace Agreement between the Philippine Government and the MILF Moro Islamic Liberation front will bring hope and peace for our society today and in the future.

Because of this, the tension between good and evil sometimes produces a positive, creative result. When the finish line of the Boston Marathon was bombed, there were few deaths, yet countless life-altering injuries, not to mention emotional trauma. However, after this event took place, citizens of Boston and all over the US started “Boston Strong,” a simple phrase that strengthened the community, improved outreach, and unified everyone involved. Devastating natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina or the earthquake that struck Nepal are other incidents of disaster and misfortune creating community outreach and unity. After disasters, communities are additionally made physically stronger. In the Wake of Disaster by Dr. Harold Koenig, was written as a guide on how faith based organizations and world recognized organizations such as FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and Red Cross (p.17) can collaborate when a disaster strikes. It is before times of disasters that these organizations must come together to fully understand the scope of their capabilities as a team. There are many organizations that are called upon to assist such as mental health organizations when people’s lives are turned upside down by hurricanes, snow storms, bombings, earthquakes and other disasters. The stress of individuals directly affected by disaster can escalate other challenges if they are not addressed. It is important not to forget the local chaplains and…

From having to assimilate to a new culture, my family left many of our loved ones behind and this fact would resonate strongly years later. In response, my parents saved money to allow my family to visit the Philippines every four years. From my growth from childhood to adolescence, making my trip back to the Philippines taught me a lesson every visit. From being unable to be with family in the Philippines as they suffered from illness to seeing the poverty-stricken life of the people in Pampanga, I have developed a deep appreciation of the opportunities I have been…

Relation with other nations is one of the most important things for the United States of America today. As history have shown, the need for the connection with other countries had been existing since the late exploration period, where United States had just achieved their independence from the British monarchy and began their own conquest around the globe. The Americans are the second, yet the most celebrated colonizer of the Philippines. Until today, the Filipino-American bond is evident, from the highlighted date of July 4 as the Filipino-American friendship day, through Filipinos being the most excellent speaker and teacher of the English language in Asia, to the full coverage of the inauguration of the new leader of the US, President Barrack Obama. The camaraderie of the two nations has come a very long way.…

Filipinos are known to be light people. We don’t usually wear much burden on our shoulders. Well, we have a lot but how do we cope with every situation? By not taking it so hard, of course! In every problem, like poverty, even if they don’t get to eat much for the day, they are still smiling and laughing together and the family is still intact. Like in the story, the narrator’s family is a poor family, and yet, because they are not so sensitive, they get to play outside and laugh. In the rich family’s case, they are abundant in food and a comfortable lifestyle but are still not content with what they have and push others-like the poor family- to pay for it. In the real world, rich people tend to step down on the poor because they…

The following are the highlights of the work that had great impact on me. First, according to Rizal, Filipinos are not responsible for their misfortunes, as they are not their own masters. We, are all aware that we were enslaved by the Spaniards and by the belief that they are our ways to salvation. Second, that, an illness will worsen if the wrong treatment is given. Third, that all the causes of indolence can be reduced to two factors, the limited training and education Filipino natives receive.…

It has been 25 years, but Ninoy’s dreams for the Filipino people live on. Do not forget. Despite events that seem to have wiped out the hopes born out of Ninoy’s death, his sacrifice was not in vain. Like what I’ve said earlier, Ninoy said that “the Filipino is worth dying for.” He didn’t have to return, because he knew what it could cost him. But he did, because he had great hopes and believed that we can achieve great good. We are the ones he died for. Our freedom is what he gained for us, though he did not taste it himself.…
