I myself stumbled on this perplexing issue one day as I noticed that …show more content…
my paper was easier to unravel than normal, with the slightest tug the whole roll unraveled itself all over my bathroom floor, "what a mess!" I shrieked in horror. I took a moment to stop and think (all my great ideas come to me when I am on the toilet) I realized that the edge of the toilet paper was facing the wall which caused this toiletry toddler accident. The uncoiled pile of tissue seemed like a bed of white cabbage. I am an avid toilet paper user and I have been using tissue paper for countless years but I did not realize that you could put your toilet paper in either the front or the back position, so much for great toilet observational ideas. I said, "This can not be happening, my paper is all wrong it should not be this way!"
Now while I 'm sitting here on the toilet doing my research with my laptop I stumbled across the fact that there are actually five methods of installing toilet paper but only two of them are common house hold ways (Wikipedia Online).
The first common method is having the toilet paper roll on a toilet roll holder, who would have ever guessed that!? Here is the tricky part the first method has the edges facing away from the wall and most commonly facing the toilet. The second method also uses a toilet roll holder but the difference is that it is the proper way toilet paper should be placed and that is the edge of the roll faces the wall and away from the toilet. The other three methods are all wrong because they are not common used and have no advantages but merely presented for interior fashion purposes. The second method is the proper method in placing tissue because it saves you from having a white cabbage mess on your floor because when you pull on the tissue the roll spins away from the user. For example, if you have a toddler in your house hold (with super human toddler strength) and the toddler pulls on the roll of tissue the toddler is less likely to have the toilet paper spun off the roll. This is simply because the toddler is more likely to spin the roll towards them and as it spins the tissue remains on the roll due to the laws of gravitational pull. get hungry and eat the tissue, so much for trying to save it. Using the second method of installation is very convenient, and it is easier for toilet paper rolling. If the paper was placed using the first method then one has to reach under or around the roll to get to the paper, and then pull it in a downward motion, if you pull it straight towards you, it is liable to break!
In a study conducted by toiletpaperworld.com users were asked if they hung their toilet paper roll with the sheet over or under, "68% like to hang toilet paper with the first sheet going over the roll, while 25% prefer to hang the first sheet under the roll." It 's unbelievable to know that 68% of all toilet paper users are approaching toilet paper installation in the wrong way.
Toilet paper usage should not be taken for granted and one must take action to fix this statistical error. Another statistic shows that "23% felt that their biggest frustration is when the tissue breaks off before you get your needed amount." This error would be minimized if the sanitation engineers in public restrooms were taught the second method when installing the tissue paper, thus increasing the longevity of tissue paper usage. The most effective way to have proper toilet paper usage in every household is to spread the teachings of installation to every man, woman, and child that uses toilet paper on a daily basis. When you are using your neighbor 's bathroom take a moment to observed their toilet paper setup and if it does not meet the second method standard immediately fix it and teach your neighbor a lesson in toilet paper
maintenance.
I have asked around to find if anyone likes there paper in the front position, I found out some people do! I asked those people why on earth they could like the paper in the front. They said: " Because if you pull it from the front, you can have a faster speed of rolling paper" I replied, "But a lot of the time the paper breaks and then you have bits and pieces" he said, " Bits and pieces are not always bad. You can just add them to your handful of toilet paper that you 're going to use." I just shook my head nicely and thought to myself of an old saying an old man said to me once: "It 's quality not quantity."
I have decided after hearing both sides that having you paper in the back is indeed better than in the front. So the next time you are putting your roll of toilet paper on, you just remember that if you have a kid, think about your toilet paper placement. Think about your arm and hand energy when you go to grab a few sheets. Think about the quality of your handful and not the quantity!
