Tom In The Maze Runner By James Dashner

In this action packed thriller known as The Maze Runner by James Dashner we meet a young man known as Tom and thats all we know about this young man as he is deposited in the building known as the maze to the other 19 boys he meets, all with the same problem he has, they have no memory of their pass so sorry but I can’t give away too much but to understand this little excerpt I am laying out for this question well we need to know about how Tom first adjusts to this foreign landscape, in the beginning he is treated as the newbie eventually though earning enough of their trust that he becomes a runner in the maze, now the reason its so important to demonstrate this all and show why it’s important in becoming a runner of the mysterious and treacherous
maze is to show that Tom’s mindset begins to form that that’s all he’ll be and how he was meant to live, running through a jumble of walls and vines since he has not one sliver of memory besides fading glimpses of the past.

Now that we got that out of the way lets discuss our new character who just decided to crash the party, she basically shows up the same way Tom and the other’s did through the box (what the young men call it) but they're flabbergasted due to the act they've only seen men come through and as soon as she shows up Tom’s thoughts begin to change like he’s seen this girl before, your basic case of Deja Vu, the reason this is they may have both lost so much of their memory into the fact they were only left with only one name that was placed into their empty skull, this girl Sarah starts to change Tom’s view on running now, before he used to run just to run, to feel the rush of excitement from that run, to feel the wind blow through his hair but now no more, he had to find the ending of the maze, he had to find the end but he didn’t know exactly why, he was no longer the Tom from before, he grew tense at the feeling of even someone entering the same room, especially if it was the Sarah girl who seemed to somehow be mentally affecting him to the point where he felt as if he might lose it if he couldn’t run the maze, this girl had an effect so deeply rooted in Tom it drove him insane but he knew when out on his run it all went away and he just wanted to run, just run without stopping.
After Tom’s decision to get more serious about running he grows more determined to get everyone out of there and she brings on this change, the change to finally end this huge riddle that has encased these boys for years unlike before he was more than determined to end it, no he was obsessed with finding the secret to this maze and curing everyone’s stress and fear of this powerful maze around them and finally beat the machine when before he admired the many walls and andho they shifted and changed, how he could just get lost without any worry for where he might end up, he grew to resent this thing till the very end
