Harper Lee makes Atticus and Miss Maudie look very smart when they say, “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. . . but sing their hearts out to us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 119). Tom is the Mockingbird, he doesn’t do one thing but “sing” for the people in his life. The guards have surely committed a sin in the end when they shoot Tom at the prison. We should all remember to enjoy the mockingbird’s song and not take the beauty of them for granted. All the Mockingbirds should be able to fly
