There are many stories that have young, adventurous boys in them and the most similar to Tom was Lampwick. Lampwick originated from the movie Pinocchio and was a rebellious character that influenced the protagonist. “Look behind you!” (Twain 1). When Tom says this, he points behind Aunt Polly. She turns to look, and he escapes. When Tom does this, he seems like a rebellious character. In Pinocchio, Lampwick says, “‘Hey Woody!”’ This is Lampwick making fun of Pinocchio. The plot of Hercules and the plot of Tom Sawyer are very similar. One way that they are similar is that they both have a big adventure. Hercules has to ‘“...fight the beast!”’(Daniels). These words mean that he has to go on an adventure to slay a beast. The adventure Tom goes on is slightly smaller than the hercules one, but is an adventure nevertheless. “‘Injun Joe is after us!”’ (Twain 128).
